This is a 1991 28 Carver aft Cabin, 31 ft in length with the swim platform. It is powered by twin US Marine Crusader 350's. These are marinized, raw water cooled GM/Chevy 350 engines 330 HP. the transmissions are unknown as they are covered under the engines and aft cabins.The exhaust risers are steel and not stainless so they are a maintenance item. They appear to be in serviceable condition. The owner told me the port engine needs the carbs cleaned but otherwise should start and run. The keys were missing so this could not be confirmed. The shaft access is under the aft cabin berth, the port shaft was accessiblebut the starboardhad a water tank in the way preventing inspection. No appreciableleaks were observed at the shafts. Marinegrowth on the bottom and running gear may affected by this. Recommendbottom cleaning first or tow the vessel away.
The electronics consisted only of an unbranded stereoand an older Ray Jefferson Model 314 loud hailer. I could not confirm if they worked, but the model 314 is an antique and a curious item. All of the switches on the fly bridgewere reported to be inoperable and the owner claims to have new replacements for them.
The owner confirmed that he bought the boat as a live aboard and did not intend to use the boat underway, as such the engines have not ran in a few years. They did appeared to be salvageableand should be able to make run. However the boat appeared to have a solid hull, no soft sports were observed, this boat would be a great candidatefor a full refit. For a 28/31 ft boat it is laid out like a much bigger boat. Installing dieselengines and generator would make this a great running, economical and reliable boat. there is more than enough room in front of the starboard engine for a generator install.
The owner intends to remove the refrigerator, flat screen TV and portableA/C unit prior to handingthe boat over. As such, I did not document them or take pictures of them. All in all the berth is in good condition but will need cleaning.
