This is my fathers 2004 Boston Whaler 170 Montauk, he passed away in the fall of 2021 and it is time to find another owner to enjoy this boat as much as my Dad did. He purchased this brand new in June of 2004 from Skip Birbarie Marine in Branford Connecticut.
This was one of many boats my dad owned over the years the current count is three! He always said this was the smartest purchase he ever made as this thing just ran and never gave him any issue. This boat was kept on a trailer in his driveway and used 90% of the time in the lake across from his home pulling a tube, with a very occasional trip on the CT river to fish for strippers. Over the last ten years this boat has barely been used. The engine, a 90 HP Honda four Stroke was put on sometime in the past 5-10 years, replacing the original Mercury motor. I have no idea how many hours are on this engine, he purchased it used. I do know that he did not put more than 20 hours into it. He would have it serviced every year, run it once or twice then put it away for the winter, inside his barn.
Boat is clean and ready to go for the summer.
The Montauk has been a worldwide favorite for over 40 years, thanks to its center console design, superior lateral stability, its extra-dry ride and quick planing with minimal horsepower. Now, all those advantages have been kicked up several notches in the all-new 170 Montauk. Enjoy a softer ride and better performance, provided by its modified V-hull entry. With a much wider beam, there?s more room inside for people and gear. And it comes in a remarkably affordable boat / motor / trailer package. The Montauk still provides great 360-degree walkaround fish fighting ability and a shallow 9-inch draft. The center console puts everything at the captain's fingertips, including binnacle control, drink holders, electrical switch panel, and electric horn. There's a spacious storage / anchor locker in the bow. And the reversible pilot seat has an adjustable 4-position seat back so it can be used as a bench or leaning post.
