This is a used 1988 Forester 157 Phantom ski boat I bought at auction. I have some limited/basic engine knowledge but not enough to continue and I won't spend the money to throw parts at it without more knowledge or a donor motor. The boat and trailer are both in good shape, the interior of the boat is rough with seats that need to be cleaned and/or replaced as well as carpeting that needs cleaning or replaced as the boat has been sitting. Some seats/cushions are loose/removed. The motor is a 90 HP Mercury that does start but will not stay running and I believe it's a fuel pressure issue. Brand new trailer tires, lifetime trailer tag (Minnesota). It has a fresh tank of 87 gas (5 gallon marine tank), new fuel filter, new oil lines and oil, multiple keys, spare tire, new(er) boat cover I bought on Amazon a few months ago, removable ski line tower (currently laying on the floor in images, just needs to be bolted upright if desired.). The battery is bad as I can charge it enough to start the boat but it doesn't last. Motor muffs included for starting on land with hose.Motor:-90 HP Mercury-Starts with starter fluid but will not continue to run (Appears to be a fuel issue as Carbs are almost dry)-New fuel filter (Images)-New oil lines and oil (Images)-Oil level alarm (both manual and electric) work-Tilt motor works-Fuel line bulb will not get hard, seems to be an air/pressure issue?-Lower gear drain screw is slightly stripped and would not come out easily with the driver I have.-Propeller has damage from prior owner, spins freely, and spins while motor running as it shouldBoat:-16 feet long, beam is 6' 6", dry weight is 700 lbs. (Boat only)-Horn does not work (Fuse replaced but that's all I've tried)-Running lights do not work (haven't even tried to get them going)-Night dash panel/speedometer lights work-Interior is rough from sitting-Steering, throttle and tilt controls all work-New fuses placed in horn and bilge controls-No title available (Minnesota does not title 16' and under boats)-Removable ski tower-5-gallon fuel tank (Full tank of fresh gas purchased this week)-Rear view mirror (for water skiing)-Registration sticker is current for 2023-Does not drain, aka "pee", from top hole. Worn gaskets in lower unit and low water pressure from my hose are suspected.Trailer:-Lifetime registration tag (Minnesota)-Good jack-4 line plug-Tows nicely-One broken running light (pictured)-No title for trailer-Some rusting, has been repainted by the prior owner-Spare tire with padlock (tire not new)-Brand new tires with stubs and Hub Buddy-Solid tie downsTesting/Repairs completed:-Battery charged to correct voltage but will not stay charged.-Gas tank emptied and refilled with 87 octane (Less than 10% Ethanol fuel as required).-Carbeurator screws were loosened/removed and little to no fuel comes out while squeezing fuel primer bulb.-Replaced fuel filter (Previous filter seemed to be clogged).-Fuel pump loosened, and fuel manually pumped with primer bulb to check for leaks (No leaks).-Fuel pump rebuild kit was ordered but has not arrived, as I suspect it is the culprit of the fuel pressure issue).-Fuel lines and primer bulb visually checked for cracks/leaks (None found).-Fuel tank vent was open during testing as required.-Fuel tank is not airtight but this shouldn't affect fuel pressure as the pump sits in the fuel itself.-Oil drained and replaced (Pictured), checked for leaks (None found after new lines installed).-Oil sensor cleaned and replaced, tested oil alarm (manual and ignition based), both work.-Removed old/cracked oil lines and replaced (Pictured).-Unable to check/change gear oil due to a stuck and slightly stripped screw, and I did not want to make it worse.-Spark plug tester was used but it didn't show spark, however, the engine does fire so there's spark. (Dang you Harbor Freight tester!).-Spark plugs visually reviewed, they looked fine as did the wiring harnesses. Was reviewing as more of a process.-Manually turned propeller as well as watched propeller spin/move gently during engine running.-10 Amp fuses changed for dash electronics. (As mentioned horn doesn't work and I don't hear the bilge, could be a battery/power issue.)-Steering wheel tested side to side to see motor movement, all in working order.-Electronic motor tilt tested and works.-Kill switch for motor at throttle checked and works.As I mentioned, I believe the motor running issue to be related to fuel due to the lack of fuel reaching the carbs and also the bulb never feeling hard. I am unable to see fuel reach the fuel filter either, which I am used to, so I believe the pump diaphragms are possibly bad. A kit has been ordered as I mentioned, but the fuel primer bulb has not yet been replaced. I didn't want to spend $50 on a primer bulb and lines before trying the pump. With that said, I'm listing for sale as the pump rebuild would be where I stop with my knowledge.
