The boat is being offered for sale once again because the previous bidder was unable to complete the transaction. Oh well. If you are bidding on this boat please be serious in wanting to buy her and have the necessary funds to be able to complete the deal.
This is the only wooden boat ever built by Marine Trader. It is reported to have belonged to the Marine Trader company for the first two years of her life and traveled the gulf coast used to advertise the coming 49' fiberglass model. It has also been reported to us that the hull of this boat was used as the plug to build the moldfor the 49' model but we can't be certain of this. Sometime before we got the boat it was also reported to have run under a low bridge and was de-masted along with losing her fly-bridge which has never been replaced. We have owned the boat since 1993 and it is both Federally documented as well as being registered in the state of Tennessee. The boat is also listed in the Registry of Wooden Boats compiled by the Wooden Boat magazine. We have spent many hours and lots of money as recently as during the past year spending $50,000 on the hull. We are now unable to finish this project due to health and would like to see this boat go to someone that would finish the boat and enjoy it, as it too good a boat to see destroyed. She needs a good home.
