Questions
I bought this exact boat this winter from a guy off of Craigslist up der Northern MN , and he tells me it was winterized and has a nice solid floor. (I checked it myself). Good running motor.
\I pulled it out this spring, and it no longer has a solid floor, it was all rotted. Then I noticed that the alternator belt was gone. Wonderful, so what else is wrong this. Jumped many hoop and the motor finally started. Put it in the lake for test run #1. Never left the trailer. It did start but with water gushing out of the lower motor block on both sides. Shit. Sign of frozen motor hence cracked block. OK now here's the message. When I put my head way down low on the motor for inspection, to see the exact point were the water was gushing out. Low and behold It was a perfect round hole, I discovered that a frost plug has blown out of the block, one on each side. Took 10 minutes to put them back in. Happy days are back. My point is, Have you checked the frost plugs on your engine. You may get lucky. If you do, God bless ya. and pass it on. and if not, tough titty. I just wanted you to know that. JJHirsch
Forgot to mension. Never buy a boat when it's -20F. The floors are always frozen hard, da, until spring when it thaws out. Anyway, I restored this boat and I love it....
