Up for bid is the 1990 Four Winns Quest 207 20' 6" boat with 1991 Load Rite trailer pictured extensively BELOW. We purchased this boat (and trailer) in 2012. Subsequent sale of the truck used to reliably tow this boat and realization of the mere lack of proper storage space have convinced us to sell. After purchasing in 2012, we
- rewired/added lighting to the trailer
- replaced the leaf springs
- replaced the wench
- replaced the tires and rims
- replaced some of the rubber rollers with neoprene rollers
- installed a new marine radio
- installed a new compass
- resealed/stained visible wood trim
- replaced the water pump/impeller in the outboard
- replaced the fuel filter(s)
- adjusted the throttle mechanism
- added kicker motor hardware to the right rear
Over the last two years, we used the boat three times - once on the Beltzville Reservoir, once on Lake Ontario, and once on the Delaware River (where pictures/videos were taken - 28 April 2014). This boat proved to be very dependable during these three outings. We were told by the previous owner that the powerhead of the 175 hp Johnson outboard was replaced in 2007; all we can say for sure is that it runs great (see videos), BUT - as you can hear in the videos - there is a rapid beeping sound near maximum throttle. This beeping ONLY sounds when nearing maximum throttle (~37 mph); there is NO other occurrence of this rapid beeping. For example, you can cruise at 30 mph for several minutes continuously, and there will be no beeping sound. This problem is indeed annoying and has frustrated us during the last two years; we have learned simply to back off the throttle just a little bit to stop the beeping.Other problems listed above:
"minor putty repairs on bottom of boat - does NOT leak; hole in bimini top repaired with tape; washdown hose disconnected/plugged because of leak at plastic fitting; tachometer does not work properly; fish finder mysteriously shuts off every now and then but reboots properly and seems to operate normally; new horn but does not function despite beep confirmation when turning key;..."
Some accessories already on the boat when we purchased it:
- Minn Kota Rip Tide 80-lb thrust trolling motor (NOT connected - in parallel - to batteries) - but verified to work
- two Penn Fathom Master 620 downriggers
- Lowrance LMS-339 sonar/GPS/fish finder
- built-in fish box/cooler and live well
- water wash down system (requiring new hose/fitting to operate)
- swim platform with retracting ladder
- bimini top
- foul weather deck cover
- anchor with lots of rope
Generally speaking, this boat offers plenty of storage space in addition to a large (85-gallon) fuel tank. To the best of our knowledge, this boat was NEVER used in salt water. The bottom is in good condition - some minor putty repairs.
The beam (width) at the widest point of the boat (e.g., ~ the window location) is measured to be ~ 8' 4".
We are not aware of the monetary value of this boat because we have honestly never seen one like it, let alone one for sale; it seems very unique. Please make your best judgement based on our efforts to accurately convey its functionality and bid accordingly. Our starting bid of $6,000 is based on our purchase price and estimated expenses since 2012.

Following are four (4) videos and twenty-five (25) pictures. **NOTE: THE MERCURY 9.9 OUTBOARD AND ELECTRIC DOWNRIGGERS VISIBLE IN ANY OF THE VIDEOS/PICTURES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE.**This video shows the "cold" startup of the 1990 175 hp Johnson outboard. It had been started previously that day (4/28/14) only to back the 20' 6" boat off the trailer. Smoke like this is common with "cold" startups of this motor.
This video shows "idle" operation with a 1990 175 hp Johnson outboard. As you can see from multiple viewpoints, the boat does a good job "trolling" around; the outboard does not hesitate or smoke while operating.
This video shows the general operation and acceleration - to near max throttle - of this Four Winns Quest 207 - powered by the 1990 175 hp Johnson outboard. Notice that, near max throttle and around ~38 mph (traveling with the Delaware River outgoing tide/current), a rapid beep code sounds. Going upriver, the beep code sounds at ~35 mph.
This video illustrates the occurrence of a rapid beeping sound when approaching max throttle - ~37 mph. The sound only occurs when approaching max throttle; it goes away when backing off of the throttle and does not reoccur until approaching max throttle again.
