1990 Four Winns 205 Sundowner
With great regret I have decided to sell my beloved boat due to starting a new business venture. If you are looking for a great looking boat that was well cared for, this 21' 1990 Sundowner the one for you. Don't just buy any boat, buy the RIGHT boat. I have had boats in family since I was 8 years old so the sea is in my blood. When it was time for me to find a craft of my own, I had specific needs and wants. It took several years of searching before I found this beautiful cuddy cabin. It checked all the things I wanted on my list Something no larger than 21 that can be easily towed with my pickup, a mid to high quality boat brand not a low cost budget brand like Bayliner, Larson, Glastron etc. It must have cuddy cabin with a V-Birth that sleeps two, must have porta-potty, comfortable seating, V8 I/O, electronics, full canvas cover, swim platform, trailer, and 1 or 2 ownership history. The added bonus was the sun pad on the back and the incredible condition this boat was kept in.
I purchased this Four Winns in March of 2005 from the second owner. He had owned it for several years and kept it at the Marina next to the one I wound up having a slip at. This is a plus since its more brackish water cresting on fresh water as the fresh water river goes into Forge Pond which emptied directly where my marina was located. I also spoke with the original owner who managed a local NAPA parts store and he maintained it impeccably for the 10 years or so he owned it. He never kept the boat in the water and trailered it to and from the water. It didnt even have bottom paint on it until the early 2000s when the 2rd owner bought it. It is not often you get to speak with both owners of a boat.
I have done whatever was required to make sure this Sundowner was very reliable for me and my family when we went out into the bay. I have even upgraded the throttle controls on the engine and micro switches to make sure I was current and up to date. This has many more factory upgrades than most on the market. The swivel captains chairs are super comfortable. They slide forward and backward as well as rotate 360 degrees. The rear sunpad is something you NEVER find on this model. Also the V8 is very hard to find on this boat.
Overall, this Sundowner is cosmetically in great shape as well as mechanically sound. The hull is in excellent condition. In the interest of full disclosure there are just a few VERY minor marks in the hull and rub rail from tapping docks or whatever. I dont remember seeing any fiberglass stress markings that are beyond normal wear for a boat of its age and I would say much less than most. The floors are very solid with NO soft spots. The cabin is clean for its age. The starboard side of thebirthhas a water stain on it. I believe the hatch started to leak. I am planning on having thehatch sealedbefore the boat is sold. The original cockpit upholstery is super nice. It still shows well and no rips or tears in the seats or sunpad. When was the last time you had seen a 25 year old boat with original white upholstery that looked this nice? I have a brand new white sport steering wheel I was going to mount up but never found the time. I will include it with the sale. It was always professionally winterized by my boat mechanic. I never dewinterized the boat until the night time temps were consistently in the 50s. I also washed the boat as soon as I came back from going out to make sure it was clean and free of salt water and debris. The oil was changed as well as the spark plugs changed out at the end of the season. With only 580 well cared for hours, this boat has lots of enjoyment left in her. Thats an average on only 23 hours of use per season.
They say the happiest day of boat ownership is the day you buy it and the day you sell it. Those people never owned agoodboat. My wife and I will be very sad when its sold. Weve had a decade of joy with this boat and its only because Im starting a business is the reason why I have put our Four Winns up for sale.Features and Options:

This boat is in better condition than most of its age and even boats half its age. The pictures were recently taken and yes the boat is as nice in person as it looks in the pictures. The only thing it will need is as fresh coat of wax which as a bonus I will give you all of my boat detailing stuff. NADA puts this at$6,140 lowand $6,980 high. I think my asking price of$6,500is more than fair considering what other comparable boats are selling for in lesser condition. One thing I have learned with all my years with boats is buy the best boat you can with the money you have. This was that boat and I can sell it with total confidence that whoever buys this boat will continue the joy of reliable use that I have had.
I always remember what Benjamin Franklinsaid The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten
