We paid around $25,000 for our Four Winns 190 Horizon in 1993. Since then, the kids grew up and moved away, we got old, and were simply not using the boat as much as we used to. That said, were putting it up for sale.Always well maintained and well treated, its currently in excellent condition, with many upgrades, and ready to run. Similarly equipped new boats sell today for around $45,000, so theres a lot of value available for you here. With continuing reasonable care and routine maintenance, this boat should provide many, many more years of inexpensive fun on the water for some wise pleasure boater.Basic Specifications:Length: 20 feet, 2 inchesBeam: 7 feet, 4 inchesPassenger/cargo capacity: 1400 poundsFuel Capacity: 35 gallons. Clean and clear title on boat and trailer. Registered in the State of Wisconsin. This 190 Horizon has dependably served us on small inland lakes, the Chicago River, Illinois River, Calumet River and on Lake Michigan for 559 total running hours (according to the factory installed Hobbs hour meter) which correlates to only about 25,000 marine engine miles. Its an excellent open-bow, general purpose family boat, with seating for 8 or more, a great interior layout, superb performance, and a stable ride. Suitably propped, it will cruise at 40 mph or more and easily pull up to 3 water skiers.Snap on the bow canvas, along with the convertible top (both included and brand new) and it can also slog through heavy seas at a surprisingly modest speed, keeping everyone on board dry and safe. (Dont ask me how I know this.)On sunny days, snap on the included Bimini top, for luxurious open air cruising, in the shade.(The collection of Sunbrella canvas and tops for this boat - 2 of them brand new - are worth about $1000.00, all by themselves.)A factory installed ski-tow ring, along with an upgraded 4-step stainless steel boarding ladder and convenient, stainless-steel grab handle complements the large, rear swim platform. This boat features the optional sport interior layout, with two swivel bucket seats at the helm, a comfortable full-width bench (which easily seats 4) at the stern, along with seating for another 2 to 4 persons in the bow. An optional filler cushion (not included) converts the bow area into a play pen. Stainless steel rails and grab handles are suitably located throughout. Our 190 Horizon has always been stored on a boat lift or on the trailer. It has never been stored in the water and has never been left out uncovered. The glossy condition of the hull and the overall good condition of the interior vinyl, furnishings and fixtures reflects this. The full-width rear seat and the engine hatch have recently been refurbished. An upgraded 32 quart ice box/cooler with cutting board is built into the port console and it will keep food and drink for 6-8 suitably chilled for more than a day.The carpeted floor is solid throughout, with no rot or sponginess. 2 stowable utility tables, with hardware, are included. There is ample storage for water skis or other items, beneath the floor. Youll find even more storage beneath the bow seats, under the engine hatch, on both sides of the fuel injected, 5.8 liter engine, inside the locking glove box, and in the handy 3-tiered, cockpit side pockets. The exterior gel-coat finish looks great, is all original and has never been painted, compounded or buffed out, except for one superficial, fist-sized spot on the port-side stern, which has been nicely touched up. A factory installed stereo system with cassette player and AM/FM radio is included. The instrument panel has all the standard instruments, plus trim indicator, tachometer and compass. You also get power steering, with an adjustable tilt wheel.Instrument panel lights, cockpit lights and required navigation lighting are all on-board.Theres a handy anchor locker in the bow. An appropriately sized Danforth anchor and 100 feet of twisted strand nylon anchor line lives there. An auxiliary, backup anchor is also included.More About the Motor: The 230 horsepower, 5.8 liter multiport electronic fuel injected V8 Ford motor in this boat has never burned a drop of oil, never developed a single oil leak, and never failed to start and run. In trucks, these motors are known to be bulletproof - running for 200,000 miles or more. This one has the equivalent of only about 25,000 miles on it. Day and night, 10 miles out in Lake Michigan, Spring, Summer, and Fall, it burns about 8 gallons of fuel per hour at a 25-30 mph comfortable cruising/slalom skiing speed. Weve reached speeds of around 50 mph with a minimal load, running in light chop. Alternatively, the boat stays on plane at speeds as low as 15mph, for wake boarding, or when otherwise necessary or desirable. The motor has always been winterized and filled with anti-freeze for off-season storage. It uses straight 30 weight oil. 5 quarts of oil, an oil filter and an oil change vacuum appliance are yours at no extra charge. More About the Stern Drive Unit: The OMC Cobra stern drive unit asks only a few things from the operator: Make sure to keep oil in the lower unit, make sure the oil doesnt get contaminated by water, try not to run into submerged objects, dont run the engine at high power with the drive unit trimmed way up, and have the unit professional serviced every couple of years, where youll have the U-joints lubed and replace certain rubber parts and seals that tend to degrade over time. The unit on this boat has always worked fine. It has never caused any trouble and never required any repairs. There is an electric/hydraulic, push-button trim system that controls the angle of the drive, for maximum performance at any speed and in any mode of operation. A stainless steel skeg has been installed to augment the original, which had worn down a bit, over the years. A Doel Fin hydrofoil has been installed to enhance low speed performance and get the boat on plane and up to speed quicker especially when heavily loaded. At cruising speed the hydrofoil is out of the water, so it doesnt cause any speed-reducing drag. In short, this boat runs very well with the hydrofoil in place, while the stern drive system does whatever you ask of it. More About the Hull: The hull and deck on this boat are in great shape, in regard to both structure and appearance. We never sustained any structural damage to the hull or deck, while the manufacturer wisely chose to use a premium quality, fade-resistant, Armorcote gel-coat finish on the boat, designed to keep the fiber glass hull shiny and bright for an extended period of time. The hull is completely free of blisters and/or moisture intrusion.More About the Trailer: Four Winns provides custom made trailers to match their boats. A flat, 4 outlet connector links the tow vehicle with the trailers electrical system. This trailer features a single axle, surge brakes, and a rugged steel frame with multiple coats of primer and paint. The paint has held up very well. The tires are in good shape (spare included). A removable trailer tongue saves space in th storage unit and enhances security. This trailer features a brand new rear LED light bar along with brand new drum brake assemblies, new wheel cylinders, bearings, and related hardware, on both sides. (The brakes alone are worth about $800.00.) More About the Canvas: Proper use of canvas enhances the safety and comfort of operating the boat, particularly for early and late season outings, cruising after dark, and boating on big lakes. The collection of brand new and fully serviceable older canvas and tops included with this 190 Horizon will increase the utility of the boat and add value to your purchase. Enjoy!
