The 382 has a good-looking cockpit with a wraparound leather sofa that converts into a double berth with filler cushions. There's also a removable cocktail table, private head, and sink down below.There must be something to that Fas3TECH hull design. How else can you explain a fully loaded 38-footer that runs better than 85 miles an hour right out of the box? Our 382 Poker Run cruised at 42 miles an hour while the big 585-hp Ligenfelter Merc 502 Mag MPIs barely broke a sweat. Overall, the 382 is not for everyoneits a high-end, high-performance machine that delivers both in terms of flat out speed and luxury accommodations below (at least in terms of performance boating). The cockpit helm seats do a terrific job of locking you into position through those high-G turns and breathtaking wavejumps, and with cockpit seating for five you can bring the whole gang aboard. The engines delivered good torque throughout the rpm range with a relatively shallow bowrise. Down below, you immediately get the feeling youre on a high-end boat, thanks to the ultraleather upholstery and fine craftsmanship below in the cabinetry. Plus, your day guests will also appreciate the privacy of a fully enclosed head, and two translucent deck hatches let in plenty of light for a more airy feel.
