1988 Formula 272 SR1. Owned this boat for approximately the last 3 years. Life had taken me in a different direction and Ive decided to part with it instead of leaving it unused. Because of my schedule, the boat never made it to the water last year. Engines were de-winterized and re-winterized last year to keep them in good running order.
As you can see, this boat has undergone a massive restoration/rebuild. The full rebuild occurred in 2010. I bought this Formula in 2015 after an extensive search. At the end of the 2015 Season, Ive replaced all of the following; two AGM Batteries/Charger, Shift/Throttle cables replaced, New Quick Fuel carbs for both engines, Kplane indicator cables and all fluids changed. In 2016; The trailer was also fully serviced with a new tires/Disc brake Kodiak conversion/new bearings. Ive got a stack of receipts including many from the paint/rebuild process. Please note the rims/tires in the pictures are the old ones. they have since been replaced as noted.
Im calling the engines mystery big blocks since the dyno/build sheets were lost somewhere in the ownership changes. They sound good and run strong. The engines were built by A-Z Marine; Delran, NJ. I do have a full outline of the build showing they dynod at 525HP each. The boat also got new HP transom assemblies during this repower. The exhaust is Stainless Marine. Based on how the boat runs, I assume its close. Depending on load/props; 68-70 is the best Ive done. I do have a diagnostic report/receipt for some work showing it ran 74mph @ 5200 Rpm in 6/2011. Those final few MPHs werent important to me so, Ive never put much energy into whatever tuning might be needed or investing in labbed props..As one of the pictures show, was able to maintain 50mph @ 3500RPM.
The hull/paint shines nice. The decals can be removed if so desired. The cabin has no smells and the upholstery is very nice AND also redone previously. If you know much about these old birds, while they are highly regarded for their ride/handling, they are known for a drainage problem in the gas tank bulkhead. This boat has beautifully been fixed in 2011. The entire bulkhead was fully rebuilt and fully glassed/gel.
Make me a reasonable offer and you might actually own it.I feel very comfortable saying you couldnt build this boat for the money. PLEASE dont waste my time or yours should you not have the funds available. This isnt a desperation sale, no low ballers or brokerages either. Unfortunately, I have to say these things..This listing is really for people that know what they are looking for and what they are looking at. Any specific questions, please ask. Boat will need to be paid for and picked up between 4/22-4/29.
