I am offering my 1988 Donzi Z-33 Crossbow. I am the first registered owner of this vessel. a bit of history: The new boat dealer, located in Virginia Beach, VA, that received this boat from Donzi filed for bankruptcy and a local gentlemen purchased it from GE Capital Credit at auction. I (almost) immediately purchased the vessel from him in April 1991 and I have owned it continuously since that time. This is a documented vessel; there are (and never have been) no liens against the vessel. I do not have a trailer. This boat represents the last of the REAL Donzi Marine Corporation vessels before OMC purchased Donzi and cheapened the brand beyond recognition. Privately owned by a retired professional.
The boat is powered by a Mercruiser 425 HP 454 on the starboard side (542 hours) and by a hi-performance GM Marine crate motor (new; NOT rebuilt/remanufactured approximately 300 hours) 454 on the port side. The starboard engine was replaced by Mercury Marine under a recall program after the OEM cast iron manifolds/risers went bad and allowed water to enter the engine. Under this recall, the exhaust systems on both engines were replaced with Gil manifolds and risers The stainless pipes connecting the risers to the transom exhaust outlets were hand-fabricated in order to avoid having to cut new holes in the transom. (I have replaced the manifolds and risers a couple of times since the warranty work was performed.) The drives are the original TRS drives, the transmissions are original and the props are original.
Lets start with THE BAD: The steering system needs work either the installation of gimbal kits or hydraulic steering should fix it; it may also need other steering system work - lots of play in the drives. The starboard trim pump is not working properly. The teleflex cables for the trim tab and drive indicators need to be replaced. The refrigerator does not work. The hull has some gelcoat cracks and dings and needs a good wet sanding and buffing.
Both engines run fine, the transmissions shift properly and the drives operate correctly. Since I have not yet winterized the vessel, I can demonstrate engine operation. I have kept the vessel inside a dry storage marina since I purchased it. After each use, each engine is flushed for a minimum of ten minutes run timevia a homemade rig that allows fresh water to enter via the sea water pickups. I dont use those transom-mounted garden hose flush fittings! I remove the transom drain plug after each use to ensure no water collects in the bilge. I do my own oil changes; I drain the warm oil out the oil pan drain plugs instead of using one of those dipstick tube pump-out devices. The cockpit and cabin upholstery are entirely original and in very good condition one very small nick in the sunpad, cabin carpet stained. It has a new cockpit cover. Non-smoking, no pets vessel.
The vessel is equipped as follows: Enclosed head with portapotty, Kiekhaefer K-planes, Kiekhaefer throttles and shifters, electric hatch lift, Halon system, electric adjustable bolster seat, small hanging closet, leather cabin seats, pressure water system with sinks in the cockpit and in the cabin, shore power system with 12V/110V control panel, and Kenwood stereo.
Shipment is the new owner's responsibility. The boat is located in Hampton, VA. The vesselMUST be picked up within 30 days of the auction end, unless the new owner makes his/her own arrangements with my dry storage marina! Payment due in full five business days after auction end. Don't bid if you do not have the funds in hand! All sales are final; ask any/all questions before you bid! Prior to pickup, regardless of your payment method, funds must CLEAR MY BANK!
