WOW Nice Donzi "Sweet-Sixteen" 16 Classic 1994 Ski Sporter Boat With Trailer White/Red L@@K!
This vessel is named theKnotty Buoy. Simply smile if you get the triple nautical entendre . . .
This classic will make you the envy of your friends and relatives, which is what you want, right? We have never been at a boat launch, putting in or pulling out, when this has failed to turn heads or generate adoring comments, period!
The most iconic shaped and styled and powered watercraft ever made, instantly recognizable by a boating enthusiast. Simply timeless, like everything great. 1994 Donzi 16 Classic, also known as a Sweet Sixteen or sometimes the Ski Sporter. 4.3-liter, six-cylinder MerCruiser Alpha-One, with thru-hull exhaust. Bennett hydraulic trim tabs make for a perfectly dialed-in ride. Interior was recently remade by Premier Performance Interiors, OEM supplier for Donzi, and is in new condition. The wrap around seating is as luxurious as positioning arrangement is flexible. New, upgraded Quicksilver 4000 throttle/shifter gives instantaneous response. Quicksilver Silverado stainless steel 21-pitch propeller is custom applied for high altitude; if you are at lower elevation, use the 23-pitch. I love this boat. It has been absolutely babied and it shows. This is your opportunity to join the exclusive Donzi Boaters' Club and experience the excitement and fun at a very reasonable price. Color is original and is the signature red that this brand is known by.
This listing includes a custom single-pole diving ladder, three expensive self-inflating featherweight life vests, paddle, fire extinguisher, nice fender bumpers, dock line, spare parts and Mercury Marine maintenance items. A just-purchased custom-fit black Taylor Made cover is available at cost, but does not come with this auction listing.
Length, 16'5". Beam, 6'11". Maximum draft, 2'5"; minimum draft, 1'. Deadrise, 23-degrees. Dry weight, 2400 pounds. Fuel tank, 33 gallons. Capacity, four persons.
Trailer is a Spartan, with new tires and leaf springs, and it comes with a spare.
It is in pristine, clean, barn-find condition. This is arguably the best Donzi 16' of a similar age (or younger or older) in the country, seriously. If the hull has a flaw, I cannot find it; seems perfect, as it has not been beached. MerCruiser engine is showroom clean and runs like-new with the deminimushours that it obviously has on it. Starts on the first crank. Purrs at idle with no sputter whatsoever. Roars to life when the onion is put to the throttle, but is throaty but not overtly noisy thanks to the exhaust baffles, which can be removed. Interior is flawless as well, with no fading and, of course, no tears or rips anywhere. The whole unit is super-nice and fresh. Gauges all work, but the fuel gauge, of course, has its own personality.
Registration (boat, Colorado does not do titles) and title (trailer) in hand.
This boat's BUCValu (Go to BUC.com) reflects the listed buy-it-now price. Other valuation methods are inappropriate. Also, if you wish a half-dozen URLs of similarly-ranged valuations, contact me and I shall provide. I see three other comparable ones around $39,000, and several from $15,000 to $35,000. If you go to Donzi's website, you will find that new 16-Classics start at $61,000 and go up to $80,000+! This is a chance to own a nice classic one at a fraction of the price!
Boat speed, like dog years, is measured differently; whatever the water speed, it feels like double that. On a Donzi it feels like triple, because it is so close to the water! Want to go 50 actual miles-per-hour down Arapahoe Bay on Lake Granby, seven miles long, in under ten minutes?! This is a priceless, thrilling experience. We would post videos, but it might frighten you!
Free bottle of nice champagne to the eventual buyers . . . Enjoy the chilled bubbly as you take your first ride as new owners, 1/4-mile from our home. Hurry, there is only about forty-five boating days left up here in Grand Lake, Colorado
The history of Donzi is fascinating. Donald Joel Aronow was an American designer, builder, and racer of the famous Donzi, Magnum, Cary, Cigarette, and Formula speedboats. He built watercraft for the Shaw of Iran, Charles Keating, Robert Vesco, Malcolm Forbes, and George H. W. Bush. In 1964 he started Donzi Marine and made that brand an international success. With Jim Wynne and Walt Walters, he extended "those damned Donzis" (nicknamed by their competitors, because they always won races they entered) line to include the Sweet Sixteen that has remained largely unchanged to this day. The current 2020 edition of this classic is listed for approximately $75,000!
If you like the sprite of the sea and the ray of the sun, here you go! This is the Ferrariof boats, if Cobalt boats are the Cadillac of them.
