I am the builder of these modern reproductions of mid 1950's mahogany runabouts that utilized modern materials and technology. They offers the wooden boat admirer the opportunity to own a beautiful wooden boat without the enormous maintenance requirements of the originals. There is no varnish to maintain as it is finished in clear coat epoxy. The modern Mercury 4 cylinder 3.0 Liter engine offers twice the power, half the weight, and 3 times the fuel economy of the originals of that era. The engine is compliant with California emissions standards. The hull is a seamless epoxy glass construction with 3/16" mahogany planks bonded to it. Being seamless there is no need to soak it up in the Spring before use. Its deep V configuration achieves an easy plane and a smooth ride. The Alpha 1 outdrive provides appropriate trim at any speed.
