59 Vintage Custom-made Chris Craft Style Sport Boat
During the 1950s, carpenter/contractor Ralph Jackson, who owned a repair garage and workshop in Culver City, built himself an exquisite 17 foot Chris-Craft style sport boat so that he could take his sporting young bride, Marjorie, fishing and camping whenever they desired. He also built a custom trailer to haul his new boat in and out of the water. Ralph spent years working on the wood interior, trims, custom-seats, storage, and Bimini style top. After completing the final improvements for storage, he finally registered his impressive custom-made vessel in 1959.
For the next twenty-five years, Ralph and Marjorie would take fishing trips in or around California, exploring the best lake and ocean points.
In 1973, Ralph bought a brand new Chevrolet 454 pickup truck and custom-built a camper over it so that he and Marjorie could take extended camping trips pulling the sport boat on its custom trailer behind the truck. Through the years, Ralph kept both his prized sport boat and his camper truck in immaculate condition. He always kept spare filters, fan belts, spark plugs, hoses, motor oil, and numerous other truck and boat parts in his garage workshop so that he could regularly servicing them himself. His boat and truck were his passion.
Unfortunately, the camping excursions became fewer as Ralphs construction and carpentry business took increasingly more of his time and, when her beloved husband died suddenly in 1984; Marjorie Jackson sadly covered Ralphs sport boat and camper truck with canvas tarps and solemnly locked the doors to her husbands garage and workshop. She could not bear to be reminded of their many happy adventures together so she sealed them away and never looked at them again.
For the next thirty years, the sport boat and camper truck remained unseen, untouched, and forgotten until Marjorie herself passed away in 2013. When her estate was settled recently, the doors to Ralph Jacksons garage and workshop were opened for the first time in decades, and the 1959 Chris-Craft sport boat and 1973 Chevrolet 454 Camper Truck (also up for auction) were brought back out into the light of day.
Everything on the boat and in the camper was just as Ralph and Marjorie left them. Under layers of dust, both boat and truck remained in excellent condition. Ralphs fishing hat was still on the boat. Sitting in the vintage boat is literally like stepping back in time. Inside one of the camper drawers were film slides of the many trips that the Jacksons took together. One of the photos of the boat you see here was taken by the Jacksons nearly fifty years ago!
We have carefully removed this vessel from private storage, taken it to the local marina for expert examination and testing, and had the vintage Johnson V115 two-stroke outboard motor on the sport boat professionally serviced. THE OUTBOARD MOTOR STARTS UP AND RUNS BUT MAY NEED ADDITIONAL SERVICE. The vessel itself is solidly intact and completely sea-worthy according to our boat expert.
We have all ownership documents required for this vessel in addition to a letter of assignment by the Jackson estate.

More About The Folks At Props & Wardrobe
Our family has been in the entertainment industry for several generations. During this time, we have acquired countless prop, wardrobe and memorabilia items from film and television studios, production companies, theatrical firms, as well as prop& wardrobe warehouses. We have acquired additional treasures over the years from friends and colleagues in show business and represent the estates of many noted celebrities and entertainment professionals.
Most of our prop and wardrobe items have been well cared for over the years and are in excellent condition for their age. Unfortunately, the expense of storing these items has come prohibitive so we must reduce our collection and, hopefully, attract buyers who will cherish them as we do.
Some of our treasures may have notable celebrity provenances which we are pleased to disclose for your interest and will happily provide a Letter of Authenticity at the Buyers request. We extend an unconditional lifetime guarantee for all celebrity-related memorabilia and will provide a full refund for any item that is not as it is represented in our description. We appreciate your trust in our good faith and your satisfaction is our ultimate goal as our impeccable classifieds board rating indicates!
Good luck and good bidding!
