Did a lot of cruising around both Florida and the Bahamas in this boat.
I have also made a lot of upgrades. It is roomy with a 12' beam and 36' 6"
LOA. Larger than later model 33' cruisers because the swim platform is not
included in its waterline length (32'10'). Has a 33" draft. Sleeps six
comfortably. The original rear salon sleeper sofa was replaced with a custom
full size teak berth with lots of storage underneath. This boat has tons of
storage space inside and out. Large double wide helm seat sits on top of a
large custom built storage locker. 300 gal (2 x 150) fuel capacity, 70 gal
water and 20 gal holding tank. None of the fuel or water tanks leak. The
bulkhead between the engine compartment and the salon has been modified by adding
large access doors to gain direct access to the front of the engines. Great
improvement for ease of maintenance.
The boat was repowered in 2002 with two Mercruiser
Horizon 6.2L MPI (Fuel Injected) 320 HP gas engines with closed cooling. There
are 650 hrs. on both engines however the port engine is locked up and will need a short block
replacement. The starboard engine runs great and doesn't use any oil. Manifolds and risers
were last changed at 400 hrs but really didn't need it. The originals looked
pretty good. The generator added in 2003 is a Kohler 7.3E currently with 1140
hrs. The generator manifold was changed at 1125hrs (the original also looked
good). Does not use oil. The hot water heater (dual heating by engine or
electric) and A/C were replaced in 2007. They work great and very few hours on
both.Owned the boat since 1998. Moved to Marathon from Miami in 2014, prior to that used the boat as a live aboard periodically when we built our house in Marathon. It simply didn't get taken out much at
all since then but I do periodically run the engine and genset (always on fresh
water supply). I have always kept a dehumidifier in the boat salon (with the
engine compartment doors open). This boat keeps a dry bilge. The boat was last
hauled two years ago here in Marathon (no blisters by the way) and given two
good coats of Petit Vivid bottom paint. The boat weathered hurricane Irma well.
I had it "spider webbed" at the end of our canal with lines and it
didn't take on any water. The starboard bow rail was damaged by another boat that
went adrift. There was also some minor cosmetic gelcoat damage to the starboard
side of the swim platform. The rear seating was in a shed on land and was
completely submerged in saltwater during the storm surge from Irma. The foam
rubber was water logged and was ruined but the important seating foundations
are PVC and easily re-covered. The canvas (in the same shed as the seating) was
submerged but cleaned up pretty good. At minimum it needs restitched. The eisen
glass needs replaced. The sun screening looks like new.Good AC/DC refrigerator, microwave,
alcohol/electric stovetop, anchor and windlass (bad retract solenoid), halon
system, fuel fume detection, VHF radio with remote speaker mic, Garmin color
chart plotter/depth sounder, Raytheon radar (monochrome display). This boat is an awsome and classic cruiser that
could be restored to a good seaworthy vessel with a minor investment and some
TLC.
