Cobalts brand new 25 SC is part of its three boat SD-SC series of wide bow shape models for 2017 ranging from 24 to 26 feet. The 25 SC is the only outboard-powered model of the three and indeed, is the only outboard-powered Cobalt to be offered by this company for many, many years.

So why now you might ask? In Cobalts own words, outboard power offers convenience, performance and versatility. And if you look around, more and more fibreglass recreational boat builders which up to the past few years hadnt offered outboard power on much over eighteen feet, are now offering just that and in ever increasing numbers, lengths, and variations of models.

This new Cobalt 25 SC gives you six choices of outboard power three from Mercury and three from Yamaha and from either brand, in 250, 300, or 350 horsepower. If you choose one of the three Mercury Verado outboards, you may also choose the optionally available engine colour of Cold Fusion White instead of the standard Mercury black so that your motor will blend with your Cobalts standard white hull colour.

The outboard motor is mounted on the aft edge of the 25 SCs full-width integrated swim platform leaving lots of foot room between the front of the motor and the aft edge of the convertible transom lounge seat cum sunpad to access the entire width of the platform. In Cobalt tradition, the outer edge of the swim platform is protected with a stainless steel perimeter rail. A flush mounted starboard side flip-down swim step provides ready access to the water.

Entry to the cockpit from the platform is via a wide starboard side walk-thru. To port and starboard are aft facing triangular-shaped seats. The port side seat becomes an aft-facing lounge when the companion seatback is flipped forward to the windshield bulkhead. The starboard side single seat may be optionally replaced with a refreshment centre and a refrigerator added if desired. The convertible transom lounge seat of course provides a forward facing stern bench seat when the seatback is flipped to the aft position.

The captain of the 25 SC is pampered with not only an adjustable, double wide helm chair but also a black leather and stainless steel steering wheel behind which are colour-matched aluminum dash panels on a gloss black console beneath a composite helm eyebrow with custom stitching. But thats not even the best part. The dash is devoid of common analog gauges and replaced with Garmins dual 7607 Glass Cockpit digital information package complete with all the normal engine data plus an hour meter and depth and water/air temperature package. A 12-volt accessory power plug is provided and DC switches are stainless steel. A JL Audio stereo with iPod/USB/MP3 port, dash remote, and six speakers is standard.

To port ahead of the companion seat is an enclosed head compartment with a standard porta-potti. Up front and through the standard bow walk-thru door are two forward-facing seats with flip-down armrests and two aft-facing bow seats with a centre forward step-up to access the anchor locker and concealed flip-out stainless steel bow access ladder. Interior cockpit snap-in carpet is standard and storage is provided under all bench-type seating. A huge storage compartment is located beneath the convertible stern seat cum sunpad where the sterndrive engine would normally reside. A large in-floor storage locker is also provided.

There are plenty of available Cobalt factory options to allow you to personalize your 25 SC to your boating lifestyle. Top of the list may be the folding aluminum arch with bimini. Folding this arch may be done manually or further opt for the electric assist. Add interior, exterior, and/or underwater mood lighting. A cockpit table, upgraded Sea Grass flooring, a sink console in the head, ski tow attachment, and battery charger are among the notable additional available options. There are many more from which to choose.
