2003 Cobalt 226 Ski Boat w/ Tower
Every boat has a story. This is an original owner boat. I have originaldocumentationand manuals. Bought for $57,000. The donor used it only a few times this summer in Diversey Harbor (Chicago Downtown) and took it to Skipper Buds in Winthrop Harbor by way of water. Upon arrival at Skipper Buds to winterize her he mentioned to the marina that the steering was a little bit tight all summer. He also asked them to check the stern drive. They proceeded to check the steering and stern drive and determined the following
found that the steering cable is the issue and needs to be replaced.
drive held pressure at 15psi for 5 minutes with no leaks. The entire drive is corroded and the oil seal in the bearing carrier is close to falling out. Checked gear oil reservoir on the engine for leaks and didnt see anyWhile drive was removed checked engine coupler and found that it is worn and needs to be replacedcoupler is warn and should be replacedThe prop shafts on both outer and inner can have grooves worn into them where the oil seal is making contact.
The marina pitched a New Bravo 3 complete installation and since the donor has used it much less they figured that they would donate it, save on winter storage and be ahead of the game.
Obviously the motor is very clean looking and no other problems were reported by the donor or the marina beyond what I mention above. Dont let this one get out of your hands. You have the winter to work on her and she can be ready in the Spring.
Nada puts the boat at a low retail of $17,810 and an average retail at $20,275 for this boat. Obviously that can be high. The repair for a New outdrive could be around $8000 brand new. A rebuilt one can be around $2000. You do the math on this one and even with the repair you are getting a great deal on this boat. The outdrive has since been put back on the boat (the photos show it missing)
