1962 CLYDE 16ft. mahogany runabout boat - RARE!!!! LOOK!!!!!

Up for sale is an extremely RARE 16 ft. Clyde Outboard mahogany boat. It comes with a vintage 1961 Evinrude Lark III 40hp motor, SHORELANDERR Tadpull trailer, and a heavy duty boat cover. The Company's logo was a flying seagull with the word "CLYDE" in capitol letters across it. I like the forethought of whoever had this boat built. They new that the boat would eventually be refinished and the logo decal would be lost, but they had the seagull decal added to another piece of wood so it could always be with the boat. Very cool, Very unique, very different.

Clyde Boats was a small, privately-owned, custom boat company located in Detroit, Michigan. Never common, even in the Detroit area, Clyde Boats are extremely rare today. Total production figures have been lost, but the company claimed to have built over 10,000 boats total from 1928 until closing in 1971. All Clyde Boats were finished in natural mahogany. None were ever painted at the factory.

Boat - The boat obviously has issues with the lacquer finish that was applied. When I rescued this boat from the person who owned it before me, had left it out in the harsh Canadian elements for too long obviously. I can assure you every square inch of this boat is perfectly solid, with no rot whatever so ever. To refinish it, it would be just like a big piece of furniture. These boats are extremely rare, not only because they don't make mahogany boats anymore, the wood is too expensive and hard to come by, but this particular boat company only made a small number of them. Who knows how many have survived to this day.

Motor - Evinrude 40 hp motor with long shaft. $800 worth of work before being winterized and stored. The motor alone is worth 2 grand as it sits. Comes with controls along side the captain's chair-as shown in the pictures.

Trailer - SHORELANDERR Tadpull trailer, excellent condition.
