Own an authentic piece of American history. Reported to have once been owned by the duPont family, this vintage (antique) commuter yacht was constructed in 1929 in New York. In that day, these yachts were used for the super wealthy to commute between their Long Island estates and Wall Street. I took ownership of Starry Night in 2014, and had extensive work done to her hull, but recent health issues have forced me to let her go.Before she partially sunk in 2013 in Destin, FL, she had been extensively refitted by her owner. She was then towed to a shipyard in Bayou La Batre, AL, where extensive repairs to her hull were carried out, including a complete C-Flex (fiberglass coating) job on most of her hull to include all below-the-waterline portions. Her machinery remains sound, including twin Detroit Diesel 6-71s, both of which start easily and run well. Renovations to her electrical systems have been made as well. The vessel includes a 20KW genset, as well as a spare generator (not currently running). She is moored in New Orleans, LA, where she can be seen. The boat is laid out in two main decks. The uppermost level includes a weather deck, forward dining room and aft saloon. Between the two is a raised pilot house. Below, there are two aft staterooms, a large, spacious engine room, and forward bunk areas. Though not useable in their current state, they could be returned to service with a moderate level of work. The hull is double-planked mahogany, a wood species used extensively throughout the interior, as well. The following links offer her full history, including many fine photographs and videos. Since taking ownership in 2014 I have made many repairs, including work to her superstructure. Interested buyers will be willing to bring some needed TLC to a vessel that is finely built, and willing to restore her to her original beauty. The included photos show her at present. Please serious inquiries only. All reasonable offers considered.
