"Roamer" is one of the last remaining commuter style yachts still in existence- and still very original. She was designed after the 57' Elco Flattop cruiser and built in Baltimore in 1930.Under present ownership, the hull has been rebuilt using the innovative Cutts and Case Method of kevlar cording. After the work , the Coast Guard approved the boat for passenger carrying. All painted and varnished surfaces have been stripped and refinished. The raised paneling in honduras mahogany is still in remarkably good condition, the engine room has been stripped of all old systems and re painted, and new fuel tanks have been fabricated. The 2 Perkins diesel engines have been checked by the local dealer and are ready for installation. The layout - aft to forward- galley is forward of the aft deck seating area, then there is a dining area / guest cabin area with head and clawfoot tub, and then up the stairs to an 18 foot public room and steering station. Going forward down the stairs is the master double with private head and dressing lockers. In the very front of the boat is the crew cabin with 2 bunks and access from the deck thru the forward hatch. The boat still needs 3/4 months of work before finished and the owner, a veteran of many restorations, is available for completing the project.
