1968 Chrysler Cruiseliner III Aluminum Boat 24' 120 HP Volvo I/O

Brief History from my research:

In 1964 Chrysler purchased the company from Lonestar. I believe Chrysler left it untouched in 1964 & 1965. It 1966 Chrysler put their name on it.

This is my baby. This is a Classic 24' Aluminum hull boat that trailers great due to the light weight. I have done a lot of work with it. It runs great but is not very fast. I suspect I overload it too much especially with the smaller HP engine. This boat is setup for Lake Michigan fishing or scuba diving, well this is what we used it for. The engine runs and idles great. It sounds good even at high speed but the boat does not go that fast. At one point I had it to maybe 22 MPH but the last time I had it out with all our scuba gear, people and extra batteries, we max'd out at maybe 18 MPH, cruising at 13-16 MPH. I did a compression check of the engine and the readings were within 158-162, which seems almost like new...got me. It makes no sense.

I have a dual battery setup at the stern with a on-board battery charger/maintainer. I also have a 2 deep cell AGM's in the front of the boat (Ok, these are maybe 100 lbs each), also with a additional battery charger/maintainer. I have replaced all of the lighting with LED's. I have a special refrigerator that is super light and efficient, not the normal refrigerator. To go with that setup, I have a 400 watt inverter. This is all powered by the 2 AGM's so you can run it w/o worrying about draining starting batteries.

There is a portable toilet in the separate bathroom area. I have a TV/DVD combo mounted in the pull out galley area. This pull out use to house a white gas stove. There is a large table that can be setup if wanted though most of the time I did not use it and left it home. There are 2 very large bench seats in the cabin. The original boat use to have hammock like bunks over these so it could sleep 4, tightly packed I assume.

There are 2 fuel tanks. One is a 16 gallon and I just put in a brand new 18 gallon. It use to have a additional 12-16 gallon that use to be mounted in the front for a 3rd fuel tank. I think the previous owner used it to cross Lake Superior.

There are 3 seats mounted in the cockpit, brand new though they are dirty right now. I have more new ones in the garage if you had something different in mind. I usually run the boat with the enclosure over the top of the cockpit. It has multiple pieces and is very sturdy. You can run it just as a top or you can add the side windows. That usually will keep you out of the elements. If there is a very hard rain with wind, you can always close it totally with the last back piece. There is also a winter canvas cover that goes with it.

I have pulled the floor and the flotation that existed there. I then purchased $500 in chemicals and re-poured the flotation but this time inside of plastic thus if there is ever a problem, you can just lift it out easily and not spend 10 hours digging bad flotation out!

While I had that all apart, I pulled out the rotten transom and put in a new transom. This thing is solid!

This is all on a aluminum hull. It is super lightweight and fuel efficient. I have had 4 downriggers mounted in the past. I have left 2 electrical outlets that would power 2 of them for future use. I have had many pole holders though I think there may only be 11 or so on there now.

The dash has incredible amounts of room for electronics as I have had a lot in the past for Wreck Diving. I also put in a very nice stereo system with a iPod connector, sorry the old connector. It might have bluetooth, I don't remember.

I have also installed electronically controlled trim tabs. For trolling I also have a trolling motor mount for maybe 10 HP? The engine is a Volvo Penta AQ120A. There are various figures on this thing but it looks like it is a 110 or 120 HP. I have replaced all of the bellows and had the lower unit reconditioned. The water pump is easily accessible from the front of the engine. I have many spare parts.

This is a classic boat and I always have people slow down and talk with me or ask questions at the dock. It is very similar to the Starcraft Islander. I love this boat and it is very hard for me to get rid of but I have 2 boats and would like just one universal boat as this boat would never work for water skiing for my family of 13 and the maintenance of 2 boats is not fun :)
