Hull #CC-17-3584, A 1958 Chris Craft 17' Sportsman Runabout as verified by Chris Craft Archives Mariners Museum. This is an original, one of one, wood hull classic, custom built by Chris Craft. It is powered by an ultra-rare 1958 Pontiac 370 cubic inch V8 engine. Believed to be all original with the exception of a complete engine rebuild by CD's Engine Service in Hudsonville, MI. All new wiring with flexible conduit where moisture contact is possible. Only 40 hours since this rebuild. Interior is the original Tango Red in near perfect condition and with all original brightwork and stainless in great condition. Wood is all original with wear and tear as shown in the pictures. Very tight original bottom takes in little water and soaks up quickly and safely with one automatic and one manual electric bilge pump (that has never been needed). Mechanically perfect with the exception of a little rust in the oil pressure gauge which does not affect it's operation. Very fast boat and it handles well with a new propeller (I have the original brass unit in a box for safe keeping). On a custom built inboard trailer with disc brakes. Steering wheel is on the left as well as the custom shifter both believed to be installed at the factory for competition water skiing.
If you are good with varnish you can make it shine like new or use as is and enjoy the patina. I believe the 370 Pontiac is the largest production engine available in 1958 (short of the 392 Hemi which is way too heavy for a boat this size). No one will believe it when you blow them away in this old woody. If you have a serious interest - make me a serious offer. May trade for a nice muscle car or BMW all wheel drive.
