I am selling this boat for a f5riend of mine who does not have E-bay. I had him write out a description and here it is in his words and if you have any questions you can call him at the phone number he provided at the end of the description. .....................Hello, I am selling my 1951 Chris Craft special runabout for health reasons. I can no longer restore it or pay for others to restore it. I bought it at an auction in Florida and brought it up to Ohio and dropped it at a well respected wood boat restoration shop. They replaced one upper mahogany plank and did some other hull tightening restorations. Also included they were contracted to strip the outerold finish and put nine coats of new varnish on the outer hull, bow sides, back and top of sides. not the engine cover however or the inside mahogany sides. All of the work was done well with the exception of the refinish and the bottom which was supposed to be stripped and repainted. as part of the deal. Well the result was very disappointing. The lower side mahogany planks have the old red bottom paint mixed in with the varnish. While they were stripping the red bottom paint it must have somehow happened. The bottom paint is mostly but not completely stripped off. The lower sides will have to be restriped and refinished to remove the red paint. Also the remaining red paint on the bottom will need to be stripped off. The front lower bow piece could use some work. and the interior needs extensive cleaning. The seats were removed and need screwed back down. The chrome pieces appear to be all there and need put back on and re chromed if you want to have the boat excellent. The light in the mahogany stick was lost by the boat restoration shop. It was a beehive style and was a truly excellent example but it is gone now. The long stainless trim pieces around the edges are there. please look at the photos to see what you need to see. There is NO NO NO wood rot on this boat. The engine still has the original 6 volt system and it needs a new hose to connect to the water intake. I do not know if the engine will start? It was owned by an elderly gentleman who passed away and I bought it at the estate sale. The old man misplaced the metal identification tags which is unfortunate and the family members could not locate them. The boat ID number is stamped into the mahogany so that is not a problem. It would be nice to have the metal tags but they are gone. I have no doubt that the engine is original to the boat. it was in a storage barn for a long time and it still has the original 6 volt system. Anyway I paid 5000 the boat at the auction and put another 8K into it at the wood boat restorai0on shop. 9it will be sold without reserve and my HUGE loss will be your gain. My health is bad and I need the money so 6t5hat's it then isn't it? Please refer to the photos and if you have any questions please call me at phone and ask for the owner of the Chris Craft.
