This is a 1974 all-fiberglass vessel built by Chris-Craft which features a great layout and two sleeping cabins comfortable both for stay-aboard or cruising. This model is alternatively known as the 35-foot Double Cabin, and the former Catalina model (not similar to Chris-Craft's newer Catalina). It has a master cabin aft that sleeps two with an adjoining full head with toilet, shower, and sink, and a v-berth cabin forward that also sleeps two. In between is a salon and full galley. It has plentiful interior closet and storage space, and lots of exterior deck space ideal for relaxing, sunning, and entertaining.
Locke's Nest is solid and has had a lot of work done to it, but someone who was staying aboard the boat did notable malicious damage to it. As a result, the boat needs a major cleaning, stem to stern, some painting, ceiling upholstery, and flooring repair, new furnishings, and some electrical and plumbing repairs. It has one working engine, a Chevy 350 V-8 marine engine, that needs filters cleaned. The starboard engine, however, was damaged by salt water intrusion and subsequently removed. Replacement engines are available from a variety of sources.
The boat has a new Xantrex battery charger, one new battery, and a new automatic 1,100 GPH bilge pump. It also had major work done to render the head discharge and water supply system operational. I put nearly $1,300 into the electrical work and more than $1,600 into the plumbing repair. Copies of the receipts are in the photos with this listing. There also is a new fresh-water pressure pump and new electric head and macerator. There is a new refrigerator in the galley, along with a working built-in microwave oven and a dual-fuel electric-alcohol range. There is a wooden swim platform onboard, which would need to be installed, and some new folding seats. The Bimini parts are aboard but would need to be assembled or the Bimini replaced.
The marina where the boat is docked is the best deal in the area. Dockage is just $8/foot with a flat $35/month for electric service. It's in a lovely location on the Anclote River with easy access to shopping, restaurants, entertainment, beaches, and all the advantages of being in Tarpon Springs, which is a tourist destination. Adding to the deal, the state considers the vessel an antique vessel and registration is just $5/year.
Someone who wants to do the work necessary themselves can significantly add to the value of this boat. I also can introduce the buyer to a highly qualified boat yard and a marine electrician that can assist with the repairs and restoration. The end result will be a good, solid, roomy boat with many years of service in it.
NOTE: Arrangements can be made on request for interested parties to inspect the vessel. Photos are of various iterations of the boat, including pre-renovation, post-renovation, and post-occupant damage. Minimum $500 deposit required at time of purchase and balance to be paid by check or money order at conclusion of sale or within seven days.
