FOR AUCTION WE HAVE A CLEAN 1969 CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER 42 .
THERE WERE ONLY 191 OF THESE COMMANDERS MADE BETWEEN 1968 AND 1971 , THESE COMMANDERS MAKE EXCELLENT LIVE-ABOARDS HAVING 2 PRIVATE CABINS , ONE UP FORWARD AND ONE AFT BOTH WITH THEIR OWN HEAD/BATHROOMS .
THIS CHRIS CRAFT SHOWS VERY WELL AND WHEN YOU WALK UP TO THE BOAT AT THE DOCK YOU WOULD THINK SHE IS A FAR NEWER BOAT OR THAT SHE HAS UNDERGONE AN EXPENSIVE RESTORATION !
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT SHE HAS ORIGINAL GELCOAT ON HER HULL AND THAT LOOKS FANTASTIC FOR HER AGE , BELOW THE WATERLINE THE HULL IS CLEAN WITH NO BLISTERS , SHE WAS LAUNCHED 2 MONTHS AGO HAVING SPENT A FEW YEARS BEING DRY STORED ON LAND .
THE INTERIOR IS IN GREAT CONDITION , IT HAS BEEN UPDATED AND FINISHED OFF WITH TEAK TRIM WHICH GIVES HER A VERY OPEN AND FRESH FEELING .
THE GALLEY IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH PLENTY OF ROOM FOR A BOAT OF THIS SIZE AND IS WELL LAID OUT TO ALLOW YOU TO ENTERTAIN AND STILL HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH YOUR FRIENDS IN THE SALON . THE AFT CABIN IS BRIGHT AND BREEZY , THEIR ARE NEW LIGHTS INSTALLED .
THE ENGINE ROOM IS HUGE WITH PLENTY OF SPACE AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE ONE PICTURE , "HAPPY OURS" WAS REPOWERED IN THE 90'S WITH TWIN CUMMINS 6BT 'S WHICH ARE GREAT ENGINES AND FOR THOSE THAT ARE NOT THAT FAMILIAR WITH THEM THEY ARE COMMONLY USED IN BUSES THESE ARE OBVIOUSLY THE MARINE VERSIONS BEING 6 CYLINDER TURBO CHARGED DIESELS .
I DID HAVE A MECHANIC COME DOWN AND GET BOTH ENGINES RUNNING AND CAN SEND YOU A VIDEO AS I MADE A SHORT VIDEO TO SHOW BOTH ENGINES RUNNING .
I HAVE NOT CHECKED THROUGH ALL THE SYSTEMS CAREFULLY , I DID HAVE AN INSURANCE SURVEY DONE I THINK AROUND 2 YEARS AGO AND SHE WAS VALUED AT $38500 AS IS AND THAT WAS BEFORE WE ADDRESSED A LOT OF THINGS THEY HAD ASKED US TO ADDRESS LIKE BATTERY CLAMPS , CHANGING SOME HOSES ETC .
THINGS THAT I KNOW NEED TO BE LOOKED AT WOULD BE THE WATER SYSTEM , WE HAVE NEVER ADDRESSED IT SINCE BUYING THE BOAT , WE HAVE HOWEVER REPLACED THE HOT WATER HEATER WITH A NEW S/S UNIT .
THE PICTURES YOU SEE IN THE LISTING WERE TAKEN BY MYSELF WITHIN THE LAST MONTH , I DO HAVE PICTURES OF THE BOAT OUT THE WATER AS THEY WERE TAKEN A FEW MONTHS AGO AND CAN FORWARD THEM TO ANY SERIOUS POTENTIAL BUYERS .
SHE IS CURRENTLY IN THE WATER IN EDGEWATER MARYLAND , AND CAN REMAIN THERE UNTIL THE NEW OWNER IS ABLE TO COLLECT OR HAVE HER TRANSPORTED AT A COST OF $300 PER MONTH . THERE IS A MARINA ACROSS THE RIVER THAT HAS A TRAVELIFT CAPABLE OF LOADING ON A TRUCK .
IF YOU LOOK AT YACHTWORLD YOU WILL SEE AROUND 10 OF THESE COMMANDERS FOR SALE OF A SIMILAR VINTAGE , LAST YEAR THERE WERE 18 WITH 3 DIESELS AVAILABLE THIS YEAR THERE IS NOT ONE DIESEL BOAT AVAILABLE THEY WERE ALL SOLD AND THIS COMMANDER HAS NEWER DIESELS NOT THE OLD DETROITS .
YOU WILL SEE THE PRICE ANYWHERE BETWEEN $25K ALL THE WAY TO 70K WITH THE 70K BOAT CURRENTLY UNDER CONTRACT AS IT HAS BEEN RESTORED , THE 25K BOATS APPEAR TO BE WELL USED NEEDING SOME WORK AND THE AVERAGE PRICE FOR A CLEAN COMMANDER IS AROUND $50K WE HAVE PRICED HER BETWEEN THE LOW END AND HIGH END AS WE WOULD LIKE TO GET HER SOLD SOONER THAN LATER SO WE ARE NOT SHOORING FOR THE MOON AS THEY SAY WE ARE REALISTIC .
WE WILL CONSIDER PARTIAL TRADES DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU MAY HAVE AND IF WE CAN AGREE ON A VALUE BEFORE HAND PERHAPS A CLASSIC CAR OR A NEW MERCEDES :-) WHO KNOWS , LETS ESTABLISH A VALUE UP FRONT , THAT SAID CASH IS KING AND THAT WOULD OBVIOUSLY BE OUR FIRST CHOICE .
LASTLY I AM SORRY TO HAVE TO ADD THIS BUT THIS IS NOT A GAME PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE THE FUNDS TO MAKE THE FINAL PAYMENT , WE ARE A SMALL FAMILY OPERATION AND RELY ON ACTUALLY GETTING PAID IN ORDER TO MOVE FORWARD , THAT SAID I AM NOT DESPERATE TO SELL SO I WONT BE ENTERTAINING ANY LOW BALL OFFERS , IF IT DOES NOT SELL WE WILL USE IT OURSELVES FOR A WHILE . IF YOU NEED TO ASK YOU RABBI , PRIEST , WIFE , GIRLFRIEND , GURU OR WHOEVER PLEASE DO SO AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEIR BLESSINGS BEFORE BIDDING THANK YOU !
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT OR CALL , IF I DO NOT ANSWER I WILL TRY TO CALL BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE .
THANKS MATT

Questions
Good Day:
I would greatly appreciate seeing photos of this vessel out of water as well as any other photos or videos you would be willing to share. I am 99.99% certain at one time this belonged to my aunt and uncle. I spent several vacations on this vessel with my family. As a matter of fact, I saw it while it was being built. Personally, it is kinda neat knowing I sat in the Captain's chair.
Thank you in advance.
With True Appreciation,
Ron
