1970 Chris Craft Commander 42. In great condition, with a fresh complete repower completed a year ago. This classic Aft Cabin is powered by a pair brand new 454 Mercruisers with under 15 hours on them. They are fuel injected with closed cooling systems and are mated to Velvet Drives. The starts right up and runs flawlessly. Equipped with ducted heat and air conditioning for the Master suite and salon, an Onan generator, 2 vacuflush heads and more, this is the liveaboard you can actually take out and enjoy!TheCommander42 boasts an amazing layout for living and entertaining. The topside sundeck has forward facing stern seat which doubles as a large dunnage box. These can be removed in favor of a more modern social furniture layout, should you desire. In addition to commanding the throaty pair of injected 454 powerplants, The helm station boasts a Garmin GPSMap 546 Navigation system and a Raymarine SL72 Pathfinder Plus radar system. Controls are well laid out for the Captain. Walking around either side of the Helm Station brings you to the bow topdeck area. There is a wonderful built in sun-pad with newer upholstered cushions, perfect for sunbathing or seating while under way. Just a few steps up above the bow deck brings you to a pair of teak loungers with a shared snack table between them, perfect for a 5pm adult beverage while you and your mate enjoy the sunset.Step down beside the captains helm into the main salon, you'll be pleased with the spacious and versatile layout with ample room for a loveseat, dinette and a pair of stools at the breakfast bar. Beside the breakfast bar, is a sliding midship door for quick access to the bow. The galley is open to the salon and features a versatile layout with full size fridge/ freezer, corner sink and combination dual burner oven & range. The galley has tons of cabinets and a full height pantry. Forward of the galley are a half-bath and generous V-berth suited for two adults. The V-berth has under-cushion storage and a good sized closet and built in drawers.Aft of the salon, a few steps down lead to the owners suite, complete with built in storage, an en-suite full bath with stand up shower and large closet. Windows surround the master suite with full and twin beds.Slip on the Bush River in Abingdon, MD is paid up through the end of the 2019 season (10/31/2019) and I will include the remainder of the slip rental to the new owner if they wish.Chris Craft stated it wonderfully in their 1970 marketing material:
Completely different from the ordinary type of double-cabin flybridge cruiser. Theres more room, both on deck and belowdecks. The cabin extends all the way to the transom, which provides a spacious sundeck topside. The longer superstructure means more window area, and thus a brighter aft cabin.
Throughout the boat theres room to move around and room to entertain. And headroom is 62 and up. The master stateroom aft is extra-large, with two wide berths, large wardrobes, and an adjoining toilet room with a standard shower. Amidships is a salon which rivals larger vessels for roominess and convenience. The layout is warm and hospitable, and it features twin lounges on either side of a dining table which can be lowered to coffee table height.
The early fiberglass hulls of Chris Craft and Hatteras are known to be some of the strongest hulls ever built. This boat will last forever and is in great shape today to get you there.
Questions
Is this boat still for sale ?
If this is still available I would like to see it in person. Can give the closest regional airport and the length of time from the airport to the marina. Thanks Joel
