Up for sale is a 1940, Custom Deluxe, Chris Craft, 19 foot (barrel-back) boat, with trailer. I purchased this boat with the help of Jim Staib from an owner in Wisconsin in 2008. The hull and bottom had to be redone. The boat had no engine. I purchased an M 6 cyc. engine core (complete) from Jim Staib. I had Automotive Machine do a complete rebuild of the motor and they did a very good job. New exhaust valves were installed to handle the poor quality gasoline we have today. The block was bored, new pistons, rings, valves and bearings were installed. A NEW oil sump was found and installed. The crankshaft was ground and true. The engine has a single Zenith up-draft carb. which I had rebuilt by Bob Hake. The head was milled. With the hull, I removed all the side boards and transom and relaid the frame-work in 5200 adhesive. I had Jeff Funk of Antique Boat Shop in Ft. Wayne, Indiana install a Correct 5200 bottom on the boat. Jeff also did the final hull preparation, staining and varnish. Jim Wirt, owner of Boat Shop, Inc. reinstalled the engine and re-wired the boat. The engine has been converted to 12 volt system. The gauges are NOT original to the boat. A previous owner went to a great deal of work to install these gauges. They are Sun Gauges which were popular back in the 1960's. The gauges all work except for the clock. 90% of all chrome was redone to "Show Quality". The interior was redone in red leather (tufted). The steering wheel is Not original. The trailer is a Trail Master which was built specific to this boat which I purchased new in 2008. It has a swing-away tongue. My wife and I have had a great deal of enjoyment traveling the mid west and going to boat shows in the summers. This boat was awarded 1st place for it's division in 2010 at ACBS Black Hawk Chapter at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. For further information, please call phone after 4:00 pm central standard time. Possible partial delivery. The owner has it as a fixed price, but reasonable offers will be considered.
