1941 Chris Craft Hydroplane. Model #102 Hull #42504 #7 of 10 built in 1941Probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of the rarest runabouts in Chris Craft history. In 1941 and 1942 Chris Craft produced 19 of these special 16 Hydroplanes. They were built with race inspired structure using 3/8 thick Mahogany planks and #6 Reed and Prince screws to cut down the overall weight. They were sold for race use only. Serious Chris Craft collectors will know exactly what this is.GNAT is boat #7 of a total of 19 hydroplanes built in 1941 and 1942. She came off the line 6/10/1941 and was shipped to Chattanooga TN. Nothing else is known about her history.Additional photos http://www.kudzucraft.com/web/1941-chris-craft-hydroplaneShe was found in a barn in TN around 1995. It received a restoration and was on the water in 1997. It was used some but leaked badly and it became apparent she wasnt properly repaired and there were still issues with the hull that must be addressed. It was taken to another shop to fix the sloppy repairs but was never touched and has been in storage since. All the hardware was removed and sent out for rechroming (see photos). All the special hardware specific the Hydroplanes is believed to be here. The chrome work is in good condition and just needs cleaning and a little polishing. A couple of pieces need to be replated. Some of the pieces such as air scoops, gauges, etc. are not original to the boat and appear to have been replaced at some point.Overall the boat appears solid with some obvious damage at the stern and transom. No doubt there is other damage hidden from view as is always the case, but the boat does not appear to need major repairs. Even so, we highly recommend you inspect the boat and form your own opinion as to the condition. The boat came from the factory with a Chris Craft KB engine. At some point it was replaced with a Chrysler Crown inline 6 cylinder. That engine is currently not in the boat but is included with in the sale. Please bear in mind that I am handling the sale for an estate and it is being sold as-is. Please look close at the photos. I will try to answer any questions but a personal inspection is recommended.Trailer is included but it not guaranteed road worthy. There is no Title! Titles were not required in Tennessee in the 40's nor are they required in Alabama on this age boat. We can provide a proper bill of sale and register the boat locally if needed.
