Restored 1940 Chris Craft boat. 17ft double cockpit barrel back model 20 runabout. Boat was originallyequipped with a KB Chris Craft motor featuring triple carburetion and mild cam. During restoration the original motor wasloss and replaced with a SB Chevrolet V8. The engine is a 283 bored to 301 specs.It features Jahns pistons, Edelbrock four barrel carb and Nicson aluminum exhaust manifolds. Thetransmission is a Stewart Warner velvet drive.The boat has a restoredbottomusing 3/8 inch marine plywood, bedding compound with new mahogany planks patterned from originals. The remainder of boat isreplanked fromrub rail to rub rail. The transom is new with some of the framing replaced. Theremaining wood is original. This boat was aspecial editionfeaturing orange deck seams with an orange waterline and bronze bottom. A total of 426 17ft. barrel backs where produced over a three year run from 1940, 1941 and 1942. The first hull number produced in 1940 was 71529 for this style boat. This boat is hull number 71688. The 1940 run was from 71529 through 71702. So 174 for 1940. Of these only 23 of these had KB engines. Very rare boat. 13%.

When I was a young man, my family spent many days cruising the waters of the Chesapeake from the Susquehanna all the way down to Solomons and so many other beautiful places. Ever since I was a young man I have always wanted a Chris Craft from the 1940s-1950s era to enjoy with my wife, our 10 children, and our 10 grandchildren(obviously not all at once).
