This 1935 Chris Craft 18' Standard Utility was built in Algonac, Michigan and shipped June 20, 1935 the dealer in Oden, Michigan. It was originally owned by the Flieshman family who used the boat at the cottage on Elk Lake, near Traverse City. The 2nd owners were the Hungerlink family from
Holland, Michigan. They owned the boat from the mid 60's until 1999 when I purchased it.
I restored the boat for a doctor from Oregon who has a cottage in Michigan. He wanted the boat exactly as it left Algonac in 1935. Over a period of about 8 years, the restoration included a 3M 5200 bottom, new framing, keel, chines, stem, topside planking, decks, transom, and professionally rebuilt original matching number engine and rebuilt transmission, new fuel tank (stainless) and new prop shaft. The completed hull, engine and all the parts then went to Mike Green of Maritime Classics in Traverse City for final assembly, wiring, upholstery, etc. ( Mike is the great, great, grandson of Christopher Columbus Smith, the founder of Chris Craft.) The custom trailer was made for the boat by Phoenix Trailers. After completion, Mike showed "Slo Poke" at the 2016 Algonac wooden boat show, where it won Best in Show, and Best Utility. It also received Best Utility at the Hessel show and Best Pre-War Utility at Traverse City. Due to ill health, the owner was unable to use the boat and it was winterized by Maritime Classics and stored until the fall of 2017 when the owner asked me to sell it. Slo Poke looks nearly new, with very little time on the water. There are a few scratches here and there and one very light dock rub on the starboard side which is very difficult to get to show up in a photograph. I will try to take some pictures of it and text them to anyone who would like to seethem. Feel free to ask me any questions and I can arrange with the owner to speak to anyone who is seriously interested. The boat is in storage butcan be inspected by appointment. Thanks for looking!
