Up for sale is a 1941 Chris craft 16 foot deluxe runabout. The boat is mostly disassembled and ready for woodwork, almost all of the hardware has been removed and was bagged & tagged. I have photos of where everything was and how it was fitted before it was removed. I have every piece of hardware for the boat. I also have an extensive amount of new parts, new old stock parts and good used parts for the boat. I will put a more detailed list of everything at the bottom of the description. The boat has a clean Florida title in my name. The trailer is included, but will only come with a bill of sale.
More photos can be found here.

A little backstory on the boat. I purchased the boat a few years ago from a woodworker who was moving and could not keep it. While Ive had it I started removing all the mechanical/electrical and cataloging everything. I started sourcing any of the parts that were missing and getting all the necessary parts to rebuild any mechanical items. I also did some research into the history of the boat. I ordered the build information from the Maritime Museum. In 2020 I was able to make contact with the son of the original person that ordered the boat. Unfortunately life has other plans for you sometimes and this is a project I probably wont be able to complete so I need to move it on.
About the condition of the boat. As you can see from the pictures, it has been stripped and sanded of all the varnish. Most of the wood is original, including the bottom. It looks like some of the top has been replaced/repaired over the years. Ive been told by a wooden boat restoration shop that the bottom is in good usable condition with some minor repairs needed near the bow. There is some damage to the port side of the boat near the bow as you can see in the pictures there is a hole in one of the planks. I posted a picture of side step frame next to it to give you a reference of the size. The seating area is missing and will need to be re-made. I have several photos from other boats for reference, and the original locations for the framework can be seen in the interior area. All of the stainless/chrome trim is included.
The engine that comes with it is a Chris Craft Model A 60hp engine. As I understand it is identical to the Model B engine that would have came in the boat. Chris craft renamed the Model B to a Model A and sold that as like a crate engine that other companies or people could put in their boats. The engine is a 1953 model which is better in some respects as it has normal modern shell type bearings, the original would have had poured babbitt bearings. I removed the engine and serviced it and got it running on a stand. It runs very well. I can supply video of it running. The starter and water pump both function correctly the generator test good but needs a regulator/switch. I also have a spare parts engine. It is an original correct Model B from the early 40s. My plan was to swap the manifold from the B to the A as that is the only visually diferent item. The original copper exhaust pipe is included. It does have a minor dent/kink in it that will need some attention. The fuel tank is original and in good condition, no corrosion but does need a good cleaning.
Here is a list of parts. Some items I have multiples/spares of. If I get the buy it now price I will include the multiples/spares, if not then those will not be included and if wanted will need to be negotiated. Ill note those items with an asterisk. Ive tried to include photos of everything.
- New step pads
- New distributor tune up kit
- New old stock carburetor*
- Bow anchor plates* one old/one new (w/BIN)
- Rebuilt water pump*
- Cutwaters*
- New engine gasket set
- Bow lights* (both with glass lenses)
There are only a couple remaining things to get, one would to be have new windshield glass cut and the glass gasket. The window brackets are present and in good condition. The other would be to have cushions made.
Over the past few years Ive also acquire several items from the era to go with the boat. I have original parts and engine manual, an original 1941 sales schedule, an original copy of the 1941 Chris Craft waterways magazine. Also have boating magazines from 40 and 41 with 41 Chris Craft ads and information. Lastly an era correct fire extinguisher and mounting bracket. I will include all of these in the sale if I get my buy it now price.
If you have any questions or would like specific photos just let me know.
Once again, the buy it now price will include everything. Anything lower than that then the spares and memorabilia will have to be negotiated.
Cash upon pick up is preferred. Im happy to work with a shipper. If you plan to do a wire transfer it will need to clear prior to the boat leaving.
