Other engine options are available from my collection or I can sell without the engine. Here is a link to my youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcRCTR0I4s8&t=30sThis 13-foot Twistercraft outboard is one of the three center seat models made in 1981. It was made from the checkmate mold. One was Yellow another White and this one is Orange. Several years later eight additional Twistercrafts were made but in an open boat configuration. Twistercraft made waves in the small boat market with its promise of agility, performance, and ease of handling... Designed for recreational boating enthusiasts , this compact vessel boasts an exciting mix of features aimed at delivering an enjoyable experience on the water. I took it out for a sea trial to see how it performs.First Impressions:At first glance, the Twistercrafts sleek and modern design stands out. Its streamlined hull, crafted from lightweight fiberglass, is built to cut through the water with minimal resistance. The boats compact size makes it easy to trailer, launch, and store, a major advantage for those with limited space or smaller vehicles. The estimated weight of the hull alone is approximately 240 pounds. The Center Steering and location of the gas tank and battery helps balance it out and sit well in the water.Performance on the Water:
The previous owner rigged this boat with a shortened Mercury 150XS. I've placed a Mercury 850 and 700 and with no modifications pushed it close to 50 miles per hour on GPS. The boat is currently Powered by a 1982 70 horse power Mercury outboard engine I am still breaking in. The throttle is setup with a hot foot and the control box is an NOS unit with a kill switch. The Twistercraft quickly accelerates or as I would say launches to a plane, demonstrating excellent power-to-weight ratio. During our test, the boat reached a top speed of 47 knots, ideal to get your heart rate up and need to change your underwear.Handling....The Twistercraft truly shines in its handling. Thanks to its responsive steering and well-balanced hull design, the boat offers sharp turns and stability even at high speeds. The ride is smooth, with minimal hull slap, even when navigating moderate chop. For a vessel of this size, it feels impressively planted and confidence-inspiring. Once you hit 45 miles per hour you can feel it riding on the pad and the fun about to begin.Maneuverability:With its compact size and light weight, the Twistercraft is incredibly maneuverable, making it perfect for tight marina spaces or weaving through narrow waterways. The boat is small and light enough to be able to paddle it up to the dock and onto the trailer. This boat is not for the inexperienced boater. Features and Comfort:The Twistercraft isnt just about performanceits also packed with practical features. Highlights include:
Pros:Lightweight and easy to trailer.
Excellent handling and stability.
Suitable for various activities and more fun and comfortable than a waverunner or jet ski.
Affordable entry price and low running costs.Cons:Limited space and as setup only seats one person.
Not designed for rough seas. I have used it in rough water but not recommended. Conclusion
The 13-foot Twistercraft outboard boat delivers an outstanding combination of performance, versatility, and value. Its an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy day trips or watersports without breaking the bank. While its not built for heavy seas or extended trips, it more than meets expectations for its intended use.You should be an experienced boater to use this boat., the Twistercraft is sure to impress.
