2004 model Chaparral 254 Sunesta Deck Boat with Volvo big block 8.1L 375hp stainless steel Duo-prop with 438 hours as of August 2017.
It is a family boat designed to carry multiple passengers in roomy comfort. The extra-large engine provides the power to pull heavy water skiers out of the water. (I slalom ski at 220 lbs. and 56 years old.) The boat can easily pull three skiers. As a "deck boat," it has more of a U-shaped open bow rather than V-shaped providing more seating comfort.
Features:
Very large Bimini top and is the largest in its class.
Perfect Pass Speed Control (works similar to cruise control and is also known as "the marriage saver"). It maintains the preset speed with minimal variation. Great for trick skiing and speed sensitive skiers and tubers.
Fore and aft swim platforms, ladders, and fresh water showers.
Full fiberglass molded floor with snap in Berber carpet.
Two fully adjustable captain's chairs with two position flip-up cushion (stand, sit high, or sit low).
Cockpit dinner table (converts to lounge).
Huge ski locker, multiple large dry storage compartments, and trunk.
Three piece curved walk through windshield and bow door.
Changing room with porta-pottie (never used).
Electric water pump, seven gallon fresh water tank, and sink.
Docking lights.
Two 12-volt power ports.
Dual battery switch (off, 1, 2, both) and remote (stern) trim switch.
Compass and depth gauge.
Bow cover, cockpit cover, and full length mooring cover.
Anchor storage (with anchor). Also includes "beach anchor."
Starboard bow and stern entry doors.
Pull up cleats, upgraded chrome drink holders, and bow scuff plate.
Automatic fire extinguisher system and hand held extinguisher.
Prestige tandem trailer with 4-wheel disk brakes, oil bath bearings, LED tail lights, spare tire with lock, and custom built break lockout saddle.
One owner and mostly used at Eastfork lake in Clermont County. This boat is kept in a climate controlled garage year-round and is well maintained.
All new trailer woodwork (bunks) and carpet (2017).
Buffed hull (2017).
Newly rebuilt outdrive including gimbal, u-joints, and bellows (2016).
New fuel pump, spark plugs, and reconditioned fuel injectors (2016).
New starter, fresh water pump, and both batteries (2015).
Five newer trailer tires.
The cushions and canvas covers are like new with very little signs of wear or age.
Includes special Volvo prop removal tool, skis, life jackets, and miscellaneous accessories.
And now for the rest of the story: After 13 years of seasonal use and more than 400 hours, it has a few issues:
The exterior has a few scrapes, chips, dings, scratches, and general cosmetic "dock damage."
Stereo never did work right. It might need to be replaced.
Trim and oil pressure gauges stopped working.
Both props got a bit dinged up. Not a problem as is, but theoretically could reduce efficiency.
Unless it's my imagination, I thought I noticed the outdrive momentarily slip into neutral while underway. It was completely rebuilt by Lodder's Marine in 2016. It might be an adjustment issue. (Or it might be just my imagination.)
o Hey, I'm a believer in full disclosure and honesty. I'd rather over-disclose than risk "surprises."
I will provide additional photos and information upon request.
