Fully Restored Century "Corsair". With only 131 ever made, you can cruise the waters in a piece of American history!
A friend of our family, here in Texas, purchased this wooden boat from Century in 1961, and was our neighbor in the oil business. In 1986, the boat went into storage and we purchased it from his estate in 2004. We had it completely restored by Mr. Jim Frechette of Fleetwood Boats, here in Austin, and it took him a year as he works on about 3 boats only a year. The good news is there was no rotting of the wood in this boat, per Jim, which he stated was unusual in wooden boats. The upholstery is white with red trim, original color, but Jim replaced it all new with upholstery he bought directly from Century, so the logo is still embossed in the rear seat. Jim rechromed all of the chrome trim, as well. The engine was completely rebuilt this past fall of 2012, by Central Garage (owner Mr. Danny Hubbard), in Dripping Springs. It is a V8, 170. Also, Jim Frechette put a new rutter and a new prop on in December 2012. We have the original Century flag to fly on the boat. The trailer was custom made from oil field pipe, so it is the original trailer from 1961, and has the name "Forrest Robertson" (original owner) painted on the pipe. We have original documents including telegrams from the manufacturer to Mr. Forrest Robertson, who purchased it in 1961 for $2,724.00 (retail price was $3,710.00 in 1961).
Please be advised that we require a $500.00 non refundable pay pal deposit with in 24 hours of the auction win unless other arrangements are discussed prior to auction end.
