Beautiful, one owner, 1972 Boston Whaler Sakonnet with original 1972 100hp Johnson motor and original Paris trailer. This boat has been meticulously cared for and always garage kept and has never been in salt water. This boat belonged to my father in law who recently passed and wasn't capable of taking the boat out and to my knowledge I was the last to use the boat and that was over ten years ago, if you're in the market for a vintage boston whaler with the original working motor and trailer in excellent condition, this is the one. This boat has one chip(pictured) out of the transom where the trolling motor was and that's pretty much the only thing wrong with this boat cosmetically and maybe the canopy due to age but still fully functions but i would keep it. The boat still has original explorer deck mount ritchie compass, speedo and tachometer, bow chock, captain's chair(don't know if it's a whaler chair but was bought same day boat was purchased), motor guide trolling motor(not tested), rare side mount fishing rod holder, and more. Items not original are an added fish finder, tires and battery that I can think of. I picked up the boat from alabama and towed it over three hours with no problems, bearings were packed last it was stored in his garage as wells all gas drained. We put fresh gas oil mix in tanks and she fired up with no problems except i would put a new impeller on motor to make it ready for you to enjoy on the water. I had a whaler specialists come out to inspect it and suggested this along with an appraisal and still couldn't believe the condition both cosmetically and mechanically, it still has the original lock that came with the trailer if you can believe it and all owners manuals, catalogs and brochures. This wasn't my boat but it's been in my life since 1982 and i can count the times on my fingers how many times it's been on the water and every time i observed how much he respected his boat. They only had a one car garage till the early nineties and guess who stayed in the garage, the boat, not his cherished cadillac, but his boat cause he loved it and I loved him for teaching me how to take care of and respect my things also. The mahogany looks as if it were re varnished but still looks good and is only noticed close up and the trailer was re painted, both if done by a professional would put this boat in pristine condition. Please submit questions throughout auction and ill try to answer to the best of my knowledge, I hate to sell it cause it looks great behind my f100 but I've already got a boat and it needs to be in the hands of a whaler collector who will keep the integrity of this boat for generations to come.On Aug-09-17 at 19:20:26 PDT, seller added the following information:
I'm still trying to add more pics so if you want a specific shot let me know and i'll text it to you by phone it's much faster. A potential buyer wanted to know about the rusty trailer, this boat has very little if any rust on the trailer, he was looking at the wench which has almost a bronze tone to it, no rust. you will not find a better looking whaler of this age in the country and if you do it's not for sale! I am relisting this boat because we almost hit the reserve and speaking of reserve I have it to remove this listing at any time during auction due to potential buyers who appreciate it and made me a great offer so don't waste time worrying about money that could cost you this one of a kind boat, heck I missed out on a 71 motorcycle that I wanted over a grand and settled for a 75, still a great bike but I missed my dream bike and the wife will definitely will cut off ALL privileges if I even try to sneak a 71 in the garage, small amount of money to miss out on a dream!
