This listing is for a RARE 1996 Boston Whaler Rage 18 Jet Boat w/ upgraded motor. It is one of the rarest whalers produced. Do not confuse this boat with it's smaller 15' cousin, which some think is nothing more than a jet ski with a boat's hull. This is NOT a jet ski! The Rage is powered by a 285 hp Ford 351 small block V8 engine.I purchased this boat two years ago and have put a lot of love and care into it. The only reason I am selling it is because I am inheriting a really nice luxury pontoon and I cannot afford to pay for two boats to be stored at the nearby marina. Don't get me wrong, the condition of this boat is used and is being sold as-is. However, with that said, I have had this boat out on the water a dozen times this season already. I have even pulled my kids behind it (on a tube) a few times. If there are any issues with the operation of this boat, I do not know of any.The good news:I have had a significant amount of work done on this boat over the past two years, including:
- 2018: Replaced starter (at Boston Whaler dealership)
- 2018: Installed Holley marine carburetor (at BW dealership)
- 2018: Installed new spark plugs, spark plug wires, and cap & rotor(at BW dealership)
- 2018: Engine tune up package, including compression check (at BW dealership)
- 2019: Installed new American Turbine trim pump and cylinder (at third party vendor)
- 2019: Replace steering cables (at third party vendor)
- 2019: Cleaned out fuel tank (at third party vendor)
- 2019: Checked integrity of fuel tank (at third party vendor). This was done to make sure that no water was getting into the tank. Everything checked out great.
- 2020: Replaced bilge pump (at third party vendor)
- 2020: Replace fuel pump (at third party vendor)
- 2020: Replaced fuel relay sending unit (at third party vendor)
- 2020: Replaced alternator (at third party vendor)
- 2020: Replaced battery
- 2018: Bought two brand new tires for the trailer
- Although most of the cushions are in good shape, a few need to be repaired. (See picture.)
- Replace the dashboard gauges. Most gauges work fine, but I was planning to have someone look at all of them. Also, when the dealership worked on the engine, for some reason they rewired the "kill switch" to where the boat operates without the safety switch in place. I was planning to fix this during this.
- Fix the normal spiderweb cracks and replace some of the rubber trimming
- There's one chipped spot in the front that needs to be fixed (see picture.) I was told this could be fixed with marine-tex patching, but I was going to leave this to the professionals when I had someone look at the spiderweb cracks.
- Fix one of the hinges on floorboard storage area
Questions
I’m interested in your 18’ Rage. How many hours on the engine? Do you have any picture of the upholstery? Is the trailer capable of a 400 mile voyage? Let me know
