For Sale ,Resurrected 1975 Boston Whaler Montauk II , Just to get things straight ,alittle history ,,the first whaler was in 1958 ,, the 13 footer ,,, the one that started it all ,,, In January of 1961 whaler came out with the first "16" hull this hull never changed for 15 years ,,.there has been over a dozen layouts for this hull mostly in wood ,, In 1973 the wood consoles went out of production and a fiberglass console was used ,and the first Montauk was produced , It is 16 ' 7" in length with 6' 2" inch beam ,,, bare hull was just over 500 lbs and 100 hp max outboard motor could be used ,, The hull color went from blue to Desert tan ,, The Montauk I was made in 73,and 74 ,,, Montauk II ,,,73 thru 75 ,,, pretty much the only difference was the addition of the bow rail to make the Montauk II ,, In 1976 the hull and the center console was redesigned , that was The birth of the '17' hull . That being said ,,,The original Montauk was produced for only three years and what we have here is the last year Montauk II I dont know much of any history of this hull ,,I found it in the basement of a old barn just outside of Canandaigua in the finger Lakes region of upstate NY where it had been sitting for over ten years ,,, so the guy told me ,,, he wasn't quite sure , he bought it , bare hull, with rails to restore ,,, never had the time and it sat there . Someone had started on it and painted it with what im guessing was a mop , maybe a broom ,, not sure,,, we had to start from scratch The hull was sanded down to original fiberglass ,,It was in very good shape ,,pretty much all we had to do was fill in the mounting holes ,, there was no damage on it ,, we faired it out and epoxied primed the topsides ,,, bottom was primed with Interlux Interprotect 2000e , stops water intrusion thru the fiberglass and seals the hull ,,Bottom was then top coated with Interlux bottomcoat ,, a antifouling paint good for trailing or leaving tied to the dock ,,, topsides done in urathane in the tan color ,,, The nonskid deck pattern on these older boats get worn and is very had to reproduce so I used " Kiwi, grip " its a rubberized coating developed by New Zealand sailboat racers ,,, neat stuff ,,,and very durable ,easy on bare feet , recoating if need be in the future is very easy ,,,scrub it down and roll another coat on After an exhaustive search i found The original center console with the grab rail and RPS seat for the boat on long Island ,,, The console was pretty much bare with alot of holes from mounting everything over the years ,,not pretty, We stripped it down to bare fiberglass , all the reinforcing plywood wood inside and out replaced ,all the holes fiberglassed and painted . I saved the wood seat back,, Z legs and the stainless for the pilot seat ,, It will be easier to tell u what isn't new on this boat ,,,other than the bare hull, bare console, seat parts and the ss tubing for the rails ,,, everything else on this boat is brand new ,, I mean Everthing ,, there is not a used screw in this boat ! All the rail fittings ,old chrome over brass , are now stainless ,, tinted windshield , upgraded three piece rub rail , bow light , all new marine ply seat bases ,epoxy coated , new foam and pleated white upholstery by Sterling Custom Canvas All the wood ,,, except the seat back , is new mahogany coated with Bristol Finish ,, a two part varnish type coating that will last for up to ten year in the tropics without recoating ,,unlike just varnish that has to be recoated pretty much yearly ,, i doubt that under normal use the wood will not ever have to be redone ,, Teleflex steering ,with ss destroyer wheel with the spinner knob ,, handy when docking ,, Richie indash compass , new switch panel ,, two ports for charging your phone ,, ,, with volt meter ,,, cig lighter outlet ,, 260 watt marine blue tooth stereo ,, with weather band ,,8 gang fuse panel under dash ,, battery box inset in console base ,, Attwood 500gal bildge pump ,, 18 gal fuel tank installed ,, I did opt for a telescoping stern light that can be stowed under the console and out of the way but has original whaler bases on the boat , Coleman 48 qt marine cooler An 8 foot long standup bimini top with integral storage boot for plenty of shade ,,,semi custom full cover , The boat comes on a Shorelander bunk trailer ,, alittle overkill for the boat ,,,that has been gone thru,, stripped to bare frame ,, base coat clearcoat paint ,, replaced tires and wheels , went up from 13 inch to 14 inch ,, bearings ,,, greasable hubs My son and I run a boat repair shop in Fair Haven Ny ,, on the southeast corner of Lake Ontario I have been working on nothing but boats for 46 years ,I became a Master marine tech in 1980,,,, We pick these whalers up and restore them in the off season ,,, we have done many of these over the years ,, The boat is for sale with no power at this time ,,, The paper work is in my name ,, ready to transfer ,,, trailer is plated and road ready,, delivery possible for a feeif you have any questions please call ,,My name is Tim Cosser ,,, Wildwood marine ,, fair Haven Ny 13064 ,,, h, phone , cell phone,I have many more pictures if you would like ,,, thanks ,,Tim
