***If you are a returning "watcher", please read through for updates.***
Boston Whaler fans around the country, this is the boat that you have been looking/waiting for. If you were looking for a Boston whaler that needs to be restored, this is not your boat :-). This is a gorgeous 38-year-old Boston whaler Montauk 17 Classic. It was garage kept most of it's life, with the exception of about 6 years. It has many upgrades including, Garmen Echomap 9SV, 24 gallon Poly Moeller gas tank, SeaStar HP Hydraulic Steering, Bimini Top, Heavy-Duty Cooler Seat, hospital bed rails, bow rail, and 8 Lee's Miami Stainless Steel Rod Holders. Even though it is not pictured, I do have the original pedestal seat that goes on the front of the boat. I removed it, because my family prefers to just lounge on the bow. There is also a grab rail that was removed from the helm, I still have it and it will be included. I removed it so that people could more comfortably sit on the cooler seat. I do not have a full cover for the boat, but I do have a pilot seat cover, and a helm cover. Every bit of wood on the boat is teak. I also ordered replacement helm panels for the gauges and switches. Check out the pics. I left the starboard panel blank in case you want to add something later. It has a 13 1/2 stainless steel three spoke steering wheel. I have the original 15 destroyer steering wheel, and will be included.
This fiberglass hull is in excellent condition for its age, and only has a few blemishes on the underside, none of which penetrate through the fiberglass. The trailer is also a 1980 model Gator. It has leaf springs in the rear, and rollers through the spine. New tires were installed in November 2017, and new hubs with stainless bearing buddy were installed in April 2018. The boat has hydraulic steering by SeaStar HP. The helm shaft seal and steering ram seals were replaced in April 2018, and there are no leaks. The boat turns extremely easily, like a hot knife through butter. :)There is a new battery under the helm. It was originally in the back of the boat, but I wanted the space in the back for fishing.
In November 2017, Beck's Outboard performed a complete tuneup on the Evinrude 100HP Commercial Outboard motor. It was a little over $1100 worth of maintenance. The motor has perfect compression, starts easily, and has a top speed of close to 40 miles an hour. Currently, the motor has just over 500 hours. Another interesting thing that I would like to point out is that the original owner maintained this motor by spraying it with a dielectric/water repellent grease since new. You will notice in the pictures, the motor is extremely clean and mostly rust/corrosion free.
Recently, the RPM gauge has stopped working. It is either the gaugeitself, or the sensor under the flywheel. I haven't addressed this issue yet. Best offers are considered :)
