The Unsinkable Legend !!! Restored classic 1962 ,13 ft sport , serial #7665.
from what I know the boat was stored in an old barn for 20 plus years , when the barn started to fall down the owner pulled the boat out into the grass and it sat there for years ,Having driven by it a million times I stopped to ask if it was for sale , he said he didn't know much about the boat , he took it in on a trade for some work and never did anything with it because of no paper work. I told him that I would buy it if I could get a registration for it ,, took the serial number down and called Whaler to nail the year down ,, anyway three trips to the dmv later it was registered in my name
Then the fun began ,,,My son and I started by pressure washing the whole boat ,all the wood was pine so that went into the firepit, The boat is very light ,three people can pick it up and move it around,We flipped it over and started on the bottom ,pretty good shape ,only a couple bad spots, we faired the bottom out and righted the boats. Topsides in very good shape one majorhole where someone looks like jammed an oar thru the side , amazing very few screw holes in it ,, repairs done whole boat sanded down and epoxy primed ,, Topcoat of Interlux perfection , both blue and the white , the floor has nonskid additive added to the paint , the bottom has two coats of Interlux 2000e epoxy primer that stops water penetration into the hull , nasty stuff but seals the glass , followed by two coats of Interlux Bottom coat NT . All new mahogany as per Whaler prints with five coats of Bristol finish , a two part varnish like finish that will last for years without the regular maintainence of varnish,, New updated whaler three piece rail installed, new whaler running lights new stainless lifting rings with stainless rods the old norman pins where polished and reinstalled new thru hull fittings. keeping it old school I put the old style cable steering back in the boat with all new parts topping it off with new ss steering wheel .. the boat sits on a brand new 2016 Shorlander trailer and has a new taylor made mooring cover. new Boston Whaler decals , and capacity plate , new 6 gal fuel tank and new battery box.
I have a period correct 1965 40 hp evinrude motor that is in very nice shape that I was going to put on the boat but thought someone might like to have the boat and put a new motor on it ,, so Im putting it up for sale without the motor at this time I can change out the steering system on it to new style with not much hassle if that a problem,,,I will rig out the boat with a new motor for free , you pay for parts,
I have been working on boats for 40 years and run a marine service in Fair Haven Ny with my son If you have any questions ,please call phone ,, Wildwood Marine Thanks Tim
