Up for bid is a 1969 13 Boston Whaler Classic totally restored with 2010 40Hp Evinrude ETEC, mahogany interior, new everything.
This is a sweet Whaler ready to go for summer. We do not want to sell her after all the work we put into it, however, we now have two large dogs and it simply is not large enough for all of us-not to mention the dogs are hard on the brand new wood. The first time we used her after restoration the dogs scratched the anchor locker cover (I about died) and it became immediately clear that she was not going to with stand our canine world.
Total invested over $8700.00-not including personal labor.
I paid $1600.00 for the hull and trailer prior to restoring her. Total sanding (4months) hull checked and verified to be dry. New paint job with awl grip on interior/exterior plus no skid on deck interior. No bottom paint as it is trailered. Total paint job $1200.00. 2010 ETEC motor $3000.00, purchased used from original owner with approximately 150 hours on it, very well maintained, runs perfectly. I have only used it for maybe 20-30 hours myself. Motor does have a jack plate on it so it can be adjusted if needed (shown in photos) $150.00. New mahogany interior deluxe seating kit from Specialty Marine $1400.00 plus $125.00 for anchor locker cover=Total interior $1525.00. New Battery $130.00. New Teleflex steering cable $150.00. New Jensen MS30 AM/FM/USB Compact Waterproof Stereo $130.00. New black Bimini $350.00. New Boston Whaler Steering wheel $100.00. New bilge pump $75. New vertical mount pole light$60 and new navigational light $60. Brand new rub rail $200. All original cleats.
Currently there is one large scratch on anchor locker cover on one side from dogs and few very light scratches on the seats. Paint job and rest of hull is near perfect condition. Since we upgraded the size of motor during restoration, the trailer tongue weight is a bit off/short. If I were going to keep it, I would look for a little longer trailer for convenience purposes. However, this trailer is fine for traveling. At time of sale I will have trailer serviced to ensure lights, bearings, tires etc. are ready to go. All titles free and clear.
The hull is actually registered as a 1972 hull however, I have the letter from Boston Whaler directly explaining that due change in registration laws over the years- this was a mistake. However the letter also indicates that trying to re-registering it to show the correct year may be problematic. The original hull number as shown in the photograph is Hull ID# 29725 and Boston Whaler confirmed it is a 1969.
This is an AS-IS sale. If you are not serious about Whalers-Do not bid.
