1998 Bayliner Jazz
This Jet Boat is essentially a four-seat wave runner! It is a quick ride and an absolute blast! Mercury 175HP V-6 makes it dependable and familiar to marine mechanics.
The boat was completely rehabilitated about a year ago. The work was extensive and it shows. New upholstery and beautiful paint. A wet ride if you want it to be and a lot of deck drainage if you go wave-diving. LOL
In 1998 Bayliner made a quality boat; the Jazz was produced for a few years in the late 90's. It is 15 feet long, low to the water, and is a riot to pilot. Like a wave runner it will slide and jump waves. The rev-limiter will keep the V-6 from over-revving.
The Mercury 175 HP V-6 power head sits on a Mercury Sport Jet drive unit. The cables were replaced for steering and the reverse bucket. The motor had extensive tuneup work performed: all three carbs are rebuilt with Mercury kits; the reeds were replaced with high performance polymer type; NOS Mercury electronic ignition components were installed (stator and switches); new plug wires; new spark plugs; new fuel lift pump; fuel pump rebuilt; and lots of love! It runs great!
The jet drive was rehabilitated with a repair to the stator (epoxy lining) and rebushing of the outer stator. The heavy lube of the gear case was replaced and no metal shavings! Yay!
Included are manuals for the boat and the SportJet components. Parts are still available and there is a community of Sport Jet Lovers out there to share knowledge.
Yes, this boat went through Hurricane Ian. But it never left the lift or took on water. Post-Ian I replaced some switches and washed things down. She weathered the storm like a trooper! (The radio display is dark.)
Reason for selling: we are choosing a larger deck boat for our retirement fun. We planned to have two boats but decided to use the funds from this boat to make seawall repairs post Ian.
A trailer is included if you want it. It is steel with a modest amount of corrosion. Tires are 4 years old. Lights do not work thanks to Ian. The wheel bearings should be repacked before a long drive.
Sea trial is available after inspection and a deal is agreed upon pending trial. A $500 deposit is expected within 24 hours of the auction close. Inspection and completion of the sale within 7 days. Cash or local cashiers check which can be cashed locally before title is transferred. Clear Florida title and registration. The boat is located in SWFL, Pine Island in St James City.
