Relisting due to a non paying classifieds boarder. Please don't bid if you don't have any intention of buying.I have decided to sell my 2001 Baja 40 Outlaw project boat. I purchased this boat with the intentions of blocking off the center engine opening and dropping a couple of motors in going with a twin engine setup. I was going to have the interior redone and enjoy the boat thinking that I bought a good solid boat. The first issue I discovered, luckily a small one, was the plastic anchor storage drains were broken causing water to run down between the hull and into the core. I drilled some small holes until I got dry wood and then let it dry out. Since the boat came from a very dry area it didn't do much damage luckily. I refilled the small holes with thickened epoxy resin after it was good and dry. The next problemI discovered was rot in the transom from the center exhaust leaking. As I dug further I found wet areas around every transom penetration, it wasn't rotted out in those areas but was black from where it had definitely seen water. I have approximately 90% of the transom ripped out.I don't mind doing small repairs but this is not the type of work that I like doing and after losing a lot of sleep over trying to decide what to do I have finally decided that it needs to go. I really like the looks of this boat and the amount of room that it offers, I wanted to use it as a performance cruiser but it's now more than I want to take on. I have a lot of the boat apart and will be selling a lot of parts but would like to make most of it available to the winning bidder first as I would like to see the boat go to someone who will restore it.
