Albemarle 242 Center Console Boat 2002.
797 Hrs. On Hull
GXi 5.7 320Hp/DPS-A 1.95 Outdrive package under 250 hrs. Rare Opportunity to buy an appreciating Classic Hull #65 of 129 made. Consider this boat a bit of a time warp. This is an attractive boat from any angle regardless of its age. Its build/ride reputation speaks for itself.
I have owned this since the fall of 2017 (lift kept). The back story, the boat sat unused for approx. 6 years hence the low hrs. on the hull. The original 5.0 engine was toast (old engine comes with the boat) the outdrive was pulled and sold off. I purchases a complete 2008 engine and drive package from a friend/neighbor who spent $26k (have invoice) in re-powering his 85 model, and then barely used it. This engine/overdrive was transplanted in early 2018 and lightly used, maybe 50hrs. In 2019 two issues developed. (1) Leaking portside fuel tank. This was taken out of service as a temporary measure(the tank likely failed because of failed seal on the deck filler cap.) I installed a 24gal. above deck tank. (2). Tried to start it one day and wont turn over. Assumed it was a dead battery. Soon discovered the starboard riser gasket had failed. Broke the outboard starter bolt. Pickled #4 cal. replaced starter, manifolds & risers. Started up no apparent damage. Within a few hours running time a top end rattle developed. Lifters on #4 cal. required excessive adjustment. On further examination the #4 cyl. lifters are very slow to pump up oil and are shot. Engine starts and runs without issue to to 2000 rpm, then you get the collapsed lifter rattle. The pushrods were slightly bent on the offending cyl. So it is an intake off job. Not a big deal. Cam appears fine.
When the engine was transplanted in 2018, engine mounts, jackshaft bearings, drive doughnut were replaced.
All the electronic (chart plotter etc.) displays and associated plug in devices were missing. They were replaced with the same spec. good/used gear off classifieds board. Everything functions correctly although not the latest technology obviously.
Cushions were all replaced in 2019 and are excellent with covers. The enclosures are original and ratty. T Top Canvas is in god shape.
The hull/deck is in excellent shape and shows little sign of stress. Polishes up well. It has bottom paint, no more then two coats, so not much build up. Could easily be removed with a case of oven cleaner for those so inclined.
F4 props are perfect. Last pulled and serviced in 2019 but have seen little use since then.
Recent new parts: drive belt, thermostat, pushrods starboard side.

The boat is a bit of a bitch to work on, but so worth it.
I really really like the boat but it needs to be loved by a true ALBE enthusiast.
Reason for sale our PDQ 34 Powercat and the wifes new creek cruiser makes this rig redundant.
As time permits, I may under take repairs/source tanks/detail boat, etc. It will sell for whatever the market determines.
UPDATE!
This boat was offered last summer and didn't sell. I recently pulled the intake and replaced the 2 damaged lifters expecting the engine noise to be corrected. The lifters pump oil but the noise remains. It sounds like a timing chain rattle, it's quiet at idle, noise comes in around 2000 rpm then quiets down above that. I got water in #4 cylinder. No smoke, no oil in the water, never overheated.
I will be doing a static compression check later in the week, it may be a wrist pin/piston or corned damage on one cylinder (worst case scenario) which is a shame because it was a superb engine. So it may be an engine out situation.
Open to the best cash offer over the next few weeks.
