1968 Imperal V18

Boat was purchased by me in 1998, I restored the boat completely--engine was pulled out and rebuilt, transom assembly was updated with new hydraulics / trim rams / gimbel & swivel housingetc... outdrive was completely rebuilt. Interior got new back to back lounger seats. NOS vinyl flooring from StarCraft was located and installed. Complete camper canvas was custom made... I put $6000 into it give or take...

I used the boat with my wife for a couple of years and went anywhere and everywhere---including out to the race in Long Island sound and across to Montauk NY. Boat has high sides and handles the ocean very well. Its also extremely good on gas, it has twin 13 gallon tanks and will run all day on 15 gallons. We made a trip from Hartford on the CT river all the way to the sound, ran out about a mile--did some fishing and ran back. It was an all day trip and I burned 13-14 gallons (approximately 80 miles!!) ! Boat will do 45 mph flat out but just purrs and sips gas at 30.

Long story short---I sold the boat to an older friend who had the same model as a kid. He had the boat for the last 13+ years and used it on the CT river/kept it in a slip in Portland CT. His health has deteriorated and he can no longer use it. I bought it back last fall and winterized it, its covered in my yard and now its time for its new home.

Engine received a brand new NOS exhaust/intake manifold and riser 2 seasons ago when the original 40 yr old unit gave up---manifold/gaskets/riser was $750.

04/04/2015 2:15 PM EST. I went & purchased 4 brand new tire & Rim assemblies(5.30x12x5 lug)Cost was $300, they will be included & installed should someone purchase the boat. The tires on trailer now aren't worth trusting for any type of trip. Thanks Tony

04/11/2015 10:00AM EST---I put in 7 gallons of fresh fuel and the battery, boat stated right up and runs awesome.

Whats it need---

Agood scrubbing/waxing/fresh coat of black paint on the outdrive.

The engine mounted water pump drips/leaks/bearings shot---I have a brand new marine rated unit that can be very easily installed (cost $100).

The canvas is in good shape but the stitching gave up in a few spots---I contacted a seamstress in Coventry CT that advertises here on craigslist and he said he could double stich all the canvas for $150.

This is an awesome classic boat that is a popular/sought after model.... with a few weekends of elbow grease and love it will be perfect for fishing/water sking/driving around... its a good model for just "all around" use. It will comfortably hold 6 people... I have a bigger boat and just can't keep it. $2400 obo all papers in order. Please note---this boat has been used in salt water but hasn't been anywhere near salt water since I sold it to my friend. Since the engine was rebuilt along with the outdrive it has approximately 250 hours of use and has spent the last 10+ years only in the CT river. There isn't any corrosion/rust/rot concerning the engine or outdrive/transom housing... its basically been a fresh water rig for along time.
