CIRCA 1930'S - CEDAR LAPSTRAKE COPPER RIVITED KLINKER BUILT ROW BOAT/ROWING SKIFF..I PURCHASED THIS BEAUTIFUL BOAT FROM A ELDERLY GENTLEMAN, IN HIS 80'S- LIVINGIN PAPASKI NEW YORK YEARS AGO. IT WAS HIS FATHER INLAWS AND SAID HAS BEEN HANGING IN THE BARN ON THE PROPERTY FOR OVER65 YEARS..HE STATED THAT HE NEVER SAW THE BOAT COME OUT OF THE BARN THE ENTIRE TIME..THIS IS WHY IS STILL IN ALMOST UNUSED CONDITION..THE BOAT IS 15 FOOT IN LENGTH WITH A NARROW BEAN AND A CANVAS COVERED FORE DECK... I SPENT HUNDREDS OF HOURS RUBBING THE ORIGINAL FINISH OFF OF THE CEDAR HULL WITH DENATURED ACOHOL, NEVER APPLYING A SCRAPER OF PIECE OF SANDPAPER TO THE WOOD..AFTER I STRIPPED THE OLD FINISH I APPLIED 10 COATS OF VARNISH TO HULL AND TOP TWO PLANKS INSIDE OF BOAT, JUST AS IT WAS DONE PRIOR. BOTTOM PAINT WAS LIGHTLY SANDED AND PAINTED THE SAME GREY COLOR...THIS BOAT IS IN AMAZING CONDITION AND OTHER THAN THE AFT SEAT MISSING, EVERYTHING ELSE IS ORIGINAL TO THE BOAT..I HAVE RUN USED THIS BOAT AT SEVERAL ANTIQUE OUTBOARD MEETS AND HAVE RUN SOME OF MY EARLIEST MOTORS ON THE TRANSOM... THE GENTLEMAN THOUGHT IT MAY BE A HENDERSON BAY SKIFF BUT COULDN'T BE 100% SURE AND ALSO ITS AGE, BOAT COULD POSSIBLE BE EVEN EARLIER THAN THE 1930SINCLUDE WITH THE BOAT IS A BRAND NEW TRAILER, SHOWN IN THE PICTURE WITH BOAT....THIS IS A WONDERFUL ANTIQUE BOAT AND IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION*********** PLEASE READ BELOW*******I HAVE ADDED A FEW MORE PICTURES BECAUSE OF QUESTIONS AND INTEREST...THE VERY LAST PHOTO IS THE BOAT WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN NEW YOUR PRIOR TO ANY COSMETIC WORK DONETHE SECOND TO LAST PICTURE SHOWS THE BOAT UPSIDE DOWN AND YOU WILL NOTICE AT THIS POINT I HAVE STARTED TO REMOVE THE ORIGINAL FINISH- WITH AS I STATED DENATURED ALCHOL ONLY, NO SANDING OR SCRAPINGTHE THIRD TO LAST PICTURE SHOWS THE BOAT IN MAYS LANDING NJ AT ONE OF THE LOCAL MEETS WITH A 1915 LOCKWOOD ASH ROWBOAT MOTOR ON TRANSOMAND ALSO TO ANSWER A QUESTION I BELIEVE THE BOAT IS NORTHERN CEDAR, WHICH HAS SOME SIMILARITIES TO SPRUCE AND IS POSSIBLY BUT DUE TO THE COLOR AND HOW LIGHT THE BOAT WEIGHS, I'M STICKING WITH CEDARLAST QUESTION WAS - HAS TRANSOM BEEN CUT, IT IS POSSIBLE AT SOME POINT IN ITS LIFE IT WAS, BUT WITH THE TRANSOM BRACKET MARKS- IT HAS BEEN USED WITH A OUTBOARD MOTOR FROM WAY BACK WHEN..I PURCHASED THIS BOAT WITH A 1914 WATERMAN SINGLE CYLINDER MOTOR
