This classic Whirlwind isnt a trailer queen, its a truly beautiful, fully functional boat that turns heads on both land and water. Thanks to its molded mahogany construction (originally used to make WWII gliders) its leakfree and lightweight. Its four-cylinder Mercury Mark 55 engine starts reliably and runs strong.
Features? The Mercury is electric start. I added a modern aluminum internal tank with a dash mounted fuel gauge. I also added a Humminbird GPS/depthfinder along with a Humminbird marine radio. It comes with a folding canopy and travel cover. Nauticus Smart Tab trim tabs keep it running level. With nav lights, horn and fire extinguisher, its ready to run.
And as for the trailer, its a modern Load-Rite for easy towing, launching and retrieval. Its equipped with LED taillights.
Issues? The boat and motor are in excellent, but not perfect, condition. For example, the Plexiglas windscreen has a crack. I drilled the end of the crack, and it hasnt grown in the seven years Ive owned the boat. If youre inclined to replace the windscreen, it wont be difficult, since the screen is a flat (not molded) piece of Plexiglass. Likewise, some of the brass screws in the floor panels could be replaced, but gravity is doing a fine job of keeping the panels where they belong.
As always, if you have any questions, please ask, and please also check my feedback.
Thanks!
Dave
