This is SUPER RARE!!! I have been a collector of vintage race boats for 35 + years and I never, NEVER came across anything like this!. I found this Hydroplane in Florida where the owner found it in the rafters of an old barn they were taking down. As I live in Upstate NY, I was in Florida for the two boat shows on Lake Dora, A winter break I've done for years. I had to go out and buy a new Jet Ski trailer to make the 1,200 mile Journey back home. I took it to the Mt. Dora Boat Show and I must say it drew acrowd. As I could see how an outboard motor was mounted to the back, An expert told me that it was also set up to be an inboard. After talking to many people at the boat show, No one had any idea of who might have built it. As the construction is built much like an airplane. No way it could be a home built, we feel like it was built in an airplane factory probably right after WW2. As the war ended, many airplane builders turned to making aluminum boats. I believe this was how Feathercraft Aluminum Boats started. Back to this boat. It could also be a prototype one of a kind design. If anybody looking at this auction has any input please let me know and I'll share it in this auction. OK, As an outboard, there was a transom mounted wood board to hold the motor. That was pretty well rotted off when I got the boat. As an Inboard, There are two inboard mounted Gas Tanks. There is a blocked off shaft hole in the step. A bracket to mount aninboard rudder and a plate on the bottom of the boat to mount the shaft strut. The front part on the deck would have to be removed to fit the small inboard motor. The Hydro measures 4 foot wide and 10 feet long. The BAD NEWS is that as the boat was in the rafters in a barn, I believe it was used as target practice by some kids. Some look like cuts & some holes. Everything can be seen in the pictures. You will need to have it welded if you have any plans on using it. There is also a dent in the front cowl where the inboard motor would go. My plans were to hang it on my wall but I just don't have any open wall space in my shop. I'm offering just the boat for auction with out a trailer but have a couple trailers like the one under the boat now for extra. Please look at the pictures and contact me with any questions you may have.OWN a Piece of REAL HISTORY!! Thanks, Jim
