Designed by Giorgio Barilani, the Riva Rudy was introduced in 1971 as a replacement for the Riva Junior, smallest and one of the last mahogany designs from Riva boatyards in Sarnico, Italy. The shape followed closely the Junior design, but instead of a mahogany hull, fiberglass was used. Originally with a 180 bhp engine, the more powerful Rudy Super was introduced in 1973 and production continued until 1983. The total number of all Rudy versions produced over twelve years is 364.
Famous owners of Riva Rudy include Formula 1 racing driver Jackie Stewart and actor Sean Connery.
Hull number 259 was first delivered to Monaco Boat Service, the official sales and service point owned by the Riva family. The boat was imported to Finland from France in 2006. A complete engine overhaul was done already in France in 2001. In 2014 the interior was refurbished, leaving some of the mahogany details visible and with a specially crafted mahogany engine cover. The overall condition can be described as very good
