sorry, Im in Michigan
Good morning, I have a HYDRO-Mite in Houghton lake that I've been trying to find info on. I tried to register with Fiberglassics and got no reply or user password. My boat is in fair shape but has no motor. The drive unit is there and the prop is in good shape also the tiller is there, the steering wheel is there but has a crack that could be heli arced. If you are interested please contact me Thanks Rick.
Hi Ken. I would be interested in it. Can you send a few pics of it. also, does it have the lower unit. Thanks, Tom
good morning I see you said you have a hydomite,do you know where I can get a motor and drive for one
We used to have 6 of these boats for the kids to use, although the adults usually took them over. I still have an original short-block (new), spare used power head, lower unit , prop guard, miscellaneous rewinds, springs and carburetor parts that were put in storage years ago. May even have a sail mount kit, that was the unit glassed into the hull to mate the power head and lower unit.
Hello Don, I recently acquired what I believe to be two old hydromites. I have struggled to find much information on the internet and would greatly appreciate a chance to pick your brain over these if you would send an email to ***. Thank you.

Hello...l was the builder/designer of the original HydroMite in Hollywood, FL. The first design was by Don Best in Elgin, Illinois which he moved to Hollywood in 1962. We built about 40 boats used for rental at several Miami Beach hotels. We experimented with several engines and !ocations (mid and rear). The original boat was a modified twin hull bottom which we flattened because of cavitation. The engine was a 5hp OMC block and a lower unit with shortened shaft. The rear engine version with a 10hp block and lower unit proved to be very quick and quirky. Steering was by cable and rudder as the lower unit was ridgidly fastened in the hull. We also developed a side'by side two seated with a small Berkly jet pump. A snowmobile engine provided the thrust but it was too slow so we installed a 15hp OMC block with the same type of drive and steering...much faster and more fun. I left because Don could not get enough financial backing to continue building and R&D. I think Bombardier got wind of the boat and may have convinced Don to sell the rights...I just assuming!

I can be reached at ***. Leave a message and l'll back to you. P.S. I'm 78 now and that time in my life was a high point. Fiberglass, engines and Miami Beach was a real kick for a young guy. Sorry I couldn't be part of the birth of the PWC craze after that.
Barry...i own 3 of them. One is a two seater (passenger sits behind driver) but decals read "Sting-Ray 2000", built in Ontario. What can you tell me about this model?
Ron...sorry but I'm not really too fast on these computer-things. If what you are saying this could have been a knock-off from one of Don's designs. It could be a stretch of the original Hydromite single seater. It would be interesting to do a comparison to see if there was some similarity. Don was up there somewhere looking for $$ and he could have hooked up with an outfit there...not sure. Barry

My husband and son just bought a beat up hydro mite and are going to try and restore it. Please let me know if you have any parts or any information on this boat. ***
If you need engine parts, we had 8 of the Hydromites in the late 60s early 70s. I have many parts put away in storage, engine manual, short blocks, heads, lower unit, prop cage, sail mount adapter, starter, carbs..Haven't looked at them in years. they were oiled and stored away in plastic tub. these were the amusement park model, no neutral was hooked up you started them in gear and off you went.
I didn't leave a contact for the above post on available hydromite engine parts, it's ***

I have a 7’ yellow with white stripes for sale. Been sitting behind a shed for 20 years before I found it. It’s for sale. Engine is there, no idea if the condition but it looks complete. And the prop is in my basement.
