1939 Elco 44' Classic Cruiser. This boat has an enormous amount of character in every detail. It is in need of a competent, motivated new owner to complete needed work. Here are some of the details:The boat is equipped with two functional Marine Air/Cruisair (Dometic) reverse-cycle AC units. Has a newer functional U-Line built-in ice maker. Has a very large built-in 12v DC fridge, functional and in good condition. Has a newer microwave and new Dometic electric range. New AC and DC panels have been professionally installed (with meters). A new shower pan and electric macerating toilet have been installed in the head. Shower and sink fixtures need to be installed. A functional flat screen TV is mounted in the master cabin forward.Boat was repowered with Mercruiser 5.7L engines with Borg Warner transmissions in the mid 90's. Engines need work. They were both rebuilt about 5 years ago. We suspect both engine oil pans need to be replaced because of an inoperable bilge pump and standing water that affected the pans. When filling with oil, oil drains into the bilge after a few minutes. Both engines will fire off and have been run briefly. The wood hull had extensive re-planking and topsides work done about six years ago during a long haul-out. However, more needs to be done. There are some problem spots with caulking between planks (do not appear rotted) that need attention and cause bilge pumps to cycle regularly. The boat was stored in a covered slip until about one year ago. Unfortunately, the Texas summer sun has taken a toll on the exterior varnish. It needs refinishing, and really should be moved back to a covered slip. Most of the original hardware is still installed on the boat, or is included. Some pieces may be missing. Carpet, very nice matching upholstered chairs and tables have been removed from the salon for easier access to engine spaces, but are included. The boat can be viewed by appointment only in League City, TX. We would welcome any in-person inspections. Due to the engine condition, moving the boat will require a tow. We can arrange towing to a local yard for haul-out and transport. The boat cannot stay at its current location or be worked on there. It will need to be moved within 2 weeks of the auction close and sale.A link to additional pictures can sent upon request. classifieds board will not allow the link here.Again, this is a piece of history, and a sizable project that is not for a beginner. Lots of good equipment for the price. Really want to get it to a good and competent home.

Questions
Hi, I am interested in learning more about your boat. what is the current situation with her?
is this elco still for sale
I owned a 1938 Elco that was 39 feet long for 16 years.....totally restored it showed at Essex, Boston and Mystic Wooden Boat shows. I took that beauty from Rockport , MA to Florida and then donated it. The most memorable events of my life took place on that Elco.
Your boat needs a family to love it and my family is begging me to get back into a wooden boat. PLEASE , PLEASE call or email me about this Elco...she needs a family to care for her. Bruce Levick ***
Is this beauty still for sale? If so, when can i pick it up? Thanks, Ken
Hello,
Is your Elco still available ?
If so I would like to get some more information about it.
Thanks,
Don
I too am a former ELCO owner, the incomparable 1939 44' Cruiser "Frolic", and had innumerable family and buddy adventures on her, home ported in Charleston SC, but cruised from Annapolis to Key West, even Freeport. Bahamas, and all points in between, over a period of many years. Donated her when I couldn't afford the maintenance--her new owners neglected and ultimately abandoned her, and now late in life my daughter and son-in-law want to feel the magic again, with a total restoration of an ELCO 44. Is your boat still available? If not, do you know of any other ELCO 44's out there? The acquistion cost will be minimal, the restoration, done right, will approximate $1,000,000 or more, but we are game to have a look ... thank you.
